IN THIS ISSUE:
Dedicated Inter-generational Gardeners (DIG) & the Community Volunteer Day, Small CSAs available, Smog of the Sea Movie Night, & Authentic Leadership in Action
In partnership with Senior Services for South Sound, GRuB is launching the Dedicated Inter-generational Gardeners (D.I.G.).  By bringing youth & seniors together, we hope to build community resilience & deepen connections across generations.  During the summer, we'll donate youth-grown produce to Senior Services for them to prepare in Meals on Wheels, and we're also offering 20 free senior CSAs to community elders who have limited incomes.  We'll host senior volunteer days throughout the season, too!

Get involved by joining our Senior, Veteran, & Community Volunteer Day on Saturday June 10th from 10AM-2PM.  A light lunch will be provided, and we'll be celebrating the completion of the volunteer-built community seed shed! Anyone can come; no background check is required for this special Saturday event.  Or, you can support D.I.G. by sponsoring a free senior CSA with a $250 donation!

Get your Small Market Share CSA while it's hot!
For $250, you'll get 14 weeks of fresh produce from our on-site farm stand, Wednesdays between 3-6PM starting in July.  Market shares work a bit differently than our full shares. You get to pick 7 of 14 listed items to take home. Items will vary throughout the season and include things like herbs, lettuce, carrots, beets, tomatoes, peppers, kale, squash, and onions. You’ll also receive 10% off any additional items you want to stock up on from the farm stand. Plus you'll get to meet our youth crew & support their job training! Sign-up for a small CSA share HERE

Smog of the Sea Movie Night with Popcorn & Prizes
Tuesday 6/27 from 6-7:30

Remember last week when we told you that musician Jack Johnson & his Ohana Johnson Foundation reached out to GRuB to support our work? Well, they also invited us to help spread the word about the effect of plastics in the ocean by sharing a short film with our community. As systems thinkers & farmers, we understand that it's all connected, & we wanted to learn more.

The Smog of the Sea chronicles a 1-week journey through the remote waters of the Sargasso Sea. Marine scientist Marcus Eriksen invited an unusual crew onboard to help him study the sea. Renowned surfers Keith & Dan Malloy, musician Jack Johnson, spearfisher woman Kimi Werner, and bodysurfer Mark Cunningham become citizen scientists on a mission to assess the fate of plastics in the world’s oceans.

We'll have some discussion afterward, and we have some great prizes to give away!  Klean Kanteen prizes include 4 reusable stainless steel pints, an insulated tumbler and 2 water bottles! Popcorn provided, too!
Engaging the Differences That Divide Us

The 2017 Authentic Leadership in Action (ALIA)
Summer Leadership Intensive features teachers Arawana Hayashi (Social Presencing Theater), Gaylon Ferguson (senior Shambhala teacher), Aftab Erfan (Director of Dialogue and Conflict Engagement, University of British Columbia, & senior practitioner of Deep Democracy), Susan Skjei (Director, Authentic Leadership Center at Naropa University.), and Leticia Nieto (faculty at St. Martin’s University, friend of GRuB, & author of Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment). This leadership intensive brings together expertise in the practices of conflict engagement, authentic leadership, and mindfulness.

ALIA will be held in Tacoma, June 22-25, on the lovely PLU campus. Members of the GRuB community receive a 10% discount (
