L.A. Agenda

Nov. 1-8

Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, but that doesn’t mean your wild side has to go into hibernation! Get girly with your BFFs at a beauty boutique, and get sexy with your sweetie at a champagne tasting!

Featured Event

Team Rubicon Gala

Thurs. Nov. 8, 7-10 p.m.
The Mark, 9320 W. Pico Blvd., Mid-City

If you’ve never heard of Team Rubicon, it’s about time you did. This group of military vets travels around the world helping people affected by natural disasters — past missions include the Haiti earthquake, Pakistan floods, and Hurricane Sandy — while providing a new outlet for veterans’ skills. Funds raised at the gala, which will feature entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, and cocktails, will support these brave individuals.

Dia de los Muertos Music and Art Festival

Fri. Nov. 2, 5-11 p.m.
El Gallo Plaza, 4545 E. Cesar Chavez Ave., East LA

The lull between Halloween and Thanksgiving can feel like a lifetime of hiding under blankets and watching Bachelor reruns. Continue the winter festivities sooner by joining in an entirely gratis festival by Al Borde to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Music, art exhibits, hot chocolate, and tamales can be found at this fest.

Badass Beach Bootcamp

Sat. Nov. 3, 8-9 a.m.
9th Street & Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach

Not quite ready to give up on that bikini bod just yet? Join personal fitness and wellness trainer HB Live Free on the beach for this intense session of cardio, flexibility exercises, strength training, and nutritional tips to get your body ready for its next level of gorge.

Grand Marque Champagne and Chocolate Tasting

Sat. Nov. 3, 5 p.m.
Mel and Rose Wine & Specialty Food, 8344 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood

Raise your glass to an uh-mazing night of decadence with this annual tasting and toast to good health with classic high-end champagnes, including Cristal, Veuve Clicquot, Dom Perignon, and Moët. Sip while you savor caviar, small bites, artisan chocolates, and discounts on future purchases — an evening sure to leave you feeling bubbly!

Bowling for the Fund of It!

Sun. Nov. 4, noon-3 p.m.
Lucky Strike, 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood

Need to escape your routine and step into someone else’s shoes for a while? What pair screams more silliness and carefree fun than Lucky Strike’s neon bowling shoes? Admission gets you the necessities and free munchies, and all proceeds go to the Fulfillment Fund, an organization that gives low-income students the support they need to graduate and go to college.

Frilly Lilly Beauty Boutique Opening

Now open
1007 Montana Ave., Santa Monica

Canada’s oh-so-luxe beauty and waxing boutique finally comes to the U.S. of A! The brand-new location is a one-stop-shop for manis, pedis, and hair removal, as well as signature jewelry, accessories, and bath and body products.
