OUTPOST | SPRING FLING AT NEW BREWERY ARTS
25TH MARCH – 14TH MAY

New Brewery Arts select work from Scotland’s premier open studios visual art and craft event
New Brewery Arts has a reputation for showing the best of contemporary craft from throughout the UK.  This spring we are proud to partner Upland to bring exciting and beautiful new work from South West Scotland down to South West England.
Each year Upland selects up to 100 artists and makers from Dumfries and Galloway to take part in Spring Fling.  Renowned for being Scotland’s premier open studios visual art and craft, Spring Fling enjoys a national and international reputation in a region which claims more artists per head than anywhere else in Scotland.
And from this extraordinary selection of artists and makers, New Brewery Arts with support from Holly Burton from the Crafts Council’s Learning & Talent Development Team has chosen 28 to showcase their work in the South West.  These include printmakers, photographers, jewellers, ceramicists, blacksmiths, sculptors and textile designers.
Joanna Macaulay, Spring Fling, Upland’s Events and Exhibitions Manager, said:
"Dumfries and Galloway is an incredibly creative place and home to many remarkable artists and makers who love to live and work in a region of inspiring beauty and with strong artistic traditions. We are really looking forward to coming to the Cirencester and showcasing some of Scotland's superb contemporary visual art and craft for a new audience."

JEWELLERY SHOWCASE:
JESSICA TURRELL AND MISUN WON
29 APRIL – 28 MAY

Two curated showcases of contemporary jewellery in our shop. Part of the Select Festival presented by SIT Select

"SIT Select celebrates diversity and always presents challenging inspiring work. The jewellers that I have chosen reflect this.  Each works with widely differing materials – metal type, thread, enamel and digital technologies; each combines fine handcrafted skills and traditional metalwork techniques using silver and gold." Mary La Trobe-Bateman, Jewellery Showcase Curator

Misun Won shows an Oriental sensitivity to her designs by combining a depth of colour in red thread with the richness of fine metals.

Jessica Turrell presents a collection of finely crafted enamel jewellery to showcase at New Brewery Arts. Jessica creates work that moves away from traditional enamel practice in order to achieve a more ambiguous and expressive material quality.  Her work has a tactile delicacy whilst making pieces that reward the wearer’s close attention with an intricate and detailed surface.

Curated by Mary La Trobe-Bateman in partnership with the Select Festival.
