Dear <<First Name>>--

Happy day-after-Valentine's Day, beloved!

The scriptures tell us that "wherever two or three are gathered in Jesus' name, then Christ is in the midst" (Matthew 18:20). So we gathered for our prayer call, and Union still had church! Praise be to God. #UnionChurchSnowDay

Even though we are in the midst of yet another snowstorm, we are still in the midst of Transfiguration. And there is still a Word from God. As promised, below you will find a link to listen to the message for today, which was prepared by our ministry intern Lucas Boomsma ( It's powerful, so be inspired as we begin the season of Lent. Also, you may check out the Scripture readings for today and information on the Transfiguration here.

Oh, and since you asked, you can also give your Sunday offering online today, too! Just click the link below and it'll take you to a quick, secure. You'll be able to make a one-time gift or set-up a recurring gift. Once on the site, just click the "Give Online" tab. And, of course if you prefer, you can just bring double next week :-)

Finally, please note that there will not be Ash Wednesday service at Union. The pastors of Charles Street, Columbus Ave, and I agreed that because of ongoing travel challenges and uncertainty of the weather, it's best for us not to gather Wednesday evening. That being said, I encourage you all to begin the season of Lent in a way that feels right for you....I will provide some suggestions later this week.

Please continue to be safe and sound...if you need anything during this time, do not hesitate to be in touch with me by email or by mobile (617) 238-5794.

Grace, Peace, and Love,
Pastor Jay

Today's Message (Sermon)
Give Your Offering Today
Depiction of the Transfiguration from the "Jesus Mafa" collection (Jesus in Africa) by Cameroonian artists. Jesus is standing with Moses and Elijah as apostles Peter, John, and James witness the dazzling experience.

From the Vanderbilt Divinity Library Revised Common Lectionary: "JESUS MAFA is a response to the New Testament readings from the Lectionary by a Christian community in Cameroon, Africa. Each of the readings were selected and adapted to dramatic interpretation by the community members. Photographs of their interpretations were made, and these were then transcribed to paintings. See: and"
There is no Ash Wednesday service at Union due to the weather. Instead the congregations of Charles Street AME, Columbus Avenue AMEZ, and Union will gather on April 2, 2015 for Maundy Thursday service at 7pm at Union.
