Paris Crying

Last night in Paris; (at least) 128 dead, 250 wounded, 99 critically. This is a grim reminder of the battle going on. "You who are God’s children...have won your battle with the evil one." 1 Jn 2:12a & 13b NLT "Who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God." 1 Jn 5:5 NLT

So we pray. We proclaim the power of Jesus Christ to save and to transform. We teach people to be disciples of Christ. And we are confident that "The Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give you to us!” 1 Sam 17:48

We just had a couple video sessions at Une Vie Renouvelée/Celebrate Recovery in Grenoble. We recorded mini-testimonies about what the program, and Christ have done for participants. From this we will make a promotional video so others can see that they can find healing and transformation in Jesus Christ.
Recording and editing stories of lives transformed by Jesus Christ is a growing part of our ministry, whether for recovery or for broadcast in North Africa. We've learned a lot about video production in recent years and we now have a simple setup to produce our own videos. It is not quite the camera Lisa is operating in the photo, but a DSLR (big digital camera) with HD video capability.
Yesterday, Friday we received a new tripod head off eBay. The one we had sagged under the weight of Lisa's camera. It is trivial but I like getting new stuff like this, being prepared, having the right tools. It added some fun to a good day, a good month, a good fall, a fine season of ministry. We are excited about the work we are doing, growth in our ministry, lives transformed, God is working in, around and through us. We laugh and cry with people, but it's good.

Just before we headed for bed last night, news from Paris started coming in;  suicide bombers, hostages taken, 30 dead. 60 dead, more, scores of injured on streets that I have walked. It is a battle. It is harsh. People die.

Moments before I was having fun with the tripod, looking at Facebook.

"Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour." 1 Pet 5:8 NLT

Events like last night give us pause. I think we are doing what we are supposed to be doing in response, but it is a battle.

We just celebrated two years of CR/UVR in Grenoble. You get a blue plastic chip when you start recovery. I gave out a blue chip this week! You get more chips at 30, 60, 90 days etc. On anniversaries, you get a metal coin. There are no French coins but people don't seem to be bothered by that.
"Fighting...evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places." Eph 6:12 NLT
