Last month we said goodbye to another cat, although unlike Hemingway's tragic death in Februray, Jet's was a beautiful send-off. He had been sick for sometime, and when the vet told us to take it day by day, I told him to let me know when he had had enough. So one night when I felt him struggle to get into bed with me (he was losing use of his back legs) and laid across my legs, I knew what he was telling me. Before the vet's last visit the following morning he had a feast of all the smoked salmon he could eat, spent a little time with every member of the family, and a walk around the backyard in the sunshine - even though I had to carry him. Jet and I have always had a special bond, that I can only describe as psychic. He laid across my stomach only 3 times in his life: and all times I was pregnant. In fact, when he did it the third time I went straight away to take a pregnancy test as we weren't expecting number 3. ;)

He was a permanent fixture in the studio and this is one of my fave pictures of him - mischievously diving into a pile of sheep fleece. We will miss him but are happy to be filled with nothing but happy memories from kitten age to old age.

This month is my birthday month - Earth day - so the new products were themed around something that has meaning to me/April birthdays.

From the Blog

(History of the Mother-daughter charms) My mother passed quite unexpectedly just 2 years later. I remember my father asking if I wanted her engagement ring as a keepsake, and feeling pretty wrong about it. Then I had this strong sense: yes, I will take the ring, but I wanted her to be buried with the bracelet from my wedding. My dad said if I could find it, he would give it to the funeral home. It was in plain sight in her jewelry box. Today I cherish my decision – at peace knowing she was buried with something that ties us together but also being able to keep a keepsake to pass on to my girls one day. Read more...
