Hello there!

We are in the height of summer fun here in greater Montreal. I've been taking advantage of the sun & heat to do mega fleece washing: it dries so fast outside this time of year. Merino from Maine is just finishing the drying process, and leicester longwool from the New Hampshire wool show are in various stages of cleaning. These fleeces are polar opposites in structure & I cannot wait to dye and spin both. I've also started freshening up the graphics online. For some reason all the outdoor time is doing wonders in that department! What do you think of my new header for the bb3 project?
One thing I miss about living most of the time in Québec is the beach. This pic was taken while we were in Nova Scotia in June. It was totally unintentional to drench my (new) LL Bean (outlet) shoes in the Bay of Fundy...the darn tide caught up to me trying to get a cool feet-near-shoreline pic! I wanted to share it because it is one of my favorite memories from this visit. I can feel that cold (refreshing) salt water on my feet just looking at it, and this time of year I think many of us in the Northern hemisphere could use a bit of cooling off. It is also a reminder that life is full of happy accidents, we just have to be willing to "go there". ;) Per usual, thanks for reading!
Until next month...

WHAT'S NEW

Puzzle necklace for autism awareness, personalized with initial charm of choice. The hand-engraved puzzle piece is the first in what I hope to be a series of awareness pieces featuring the puzzle piece at 3 different angles. I'd also like to develop a bookmark to add to the advocacy/awareness line.

Two New Stitch Marker Sets:

Always in my Heart (above, left) and Heart on Your Sleeve (above, right). The inspiration for these sets came from an email request from a woman looking to keep her passed on grandparents close to her heart while knitting. I love the sentiment and will definitely expand on this theme more in the near future.

New chain for the child's flower necklaces

The new chain gives the piece more of the flow/feel I was originally going for, and with the longer lengths available, makes it perfect for not just the young but the young at heart... :)

Coupon Codes

Keeping with the theme of sharing ideas/creativity in this newsletter, I am moving coupon codes online to Facebook & Twitter. Keep an eye out there for sales & discounts in the future.

The latest from Twitter & Facebook...

I shared this photo on my Facebook page from novascotia.com's facebook page of the Fortress of Louisbourg. The skies, the sheep, the fortress itself: how absolutely captivating all put together!

On Twitter, I shared an article on buzzfeed about a woman who turns Thrift store finds into fresh, stylish new looks. Considering how much time I spend in secondhand stores (Frenchy's, am I right, Nova Scotians?? ;)) I really wish I had her eye and talent for upcycling.
We have a 100 year old project house in Nova Scotia. Now, I hate painting. I love the look of a freshly painted wall or trim but I don’t necessarily enjoy the execution. One painting project I was looking forward to, was the back door. Mostly because of the size of the project (small!). It’s a vintage dream: the side that is towards the outside has this gorgeous natural crackle from years of exposure to the elements and layers of paint. The brass door knob from years gone by would take a skeleton key if I had it; now it is secured with the modern day deadbolt. It was dingy white, and it screamed to be blue, to match our new roof. I could not wait to see the final product.
