NEW CATALOG COMING SOON

On May 29th, we will be upgrading to a new shared online catalog and checkout system called CARL. In addition to the features you love about our current catalog, the new system will offer easier searching, more relevant results, a kids catalog, innovative account features, effortless integration with eBooks and eAudio, and a new mobile catalog.
In order to complete the upgrade, the Library will be closed Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28 to allow for millions of records (both patron and material) to be transferred successfully. Also in preparation for the migration to a new system, MeLCat services will be suspended on April 1, 2018 with a tentative resume date of July 1, 2018.
All of your holds will transfer to the new system. After May 29th, library PINs will be restricted to six or less numbers. Any patrons who currently have a PIN that contains letters or are larger than six numbers will be assigned the last four digits of their phone numbers. When logging into your account in the new catalog, you will also have the option to create an EZ username and password.
Thank you for your cooperation as we get ready for our new system. We expect it to be a great improvement for our Library and for YOU!

LITERACY TIPS WITH MARY
Ms. Mary is our Literacy Specialist here at SSLDL!
LITERACY TIP:
As you begin to play outside, take time to talk with your child about the new flowers that are springing up in your garden. Expand their vocabulary by telling them the specific names of the flowers. For example, "These flowers are tulips and these are crocuses" Show your children the similarities and differences among the leaves. Ask them to tell you the colors of the petals. Check out "spring"books from the library and enjoy a walk through the path. Remember, Talking with your child will help expand their vocabulary, and build their knowledge of the world around them. Both early literacy components that your child needs in order to be ready to read!
