Tapspace: The Latest
🌞 Heat of the Summer
June 2022
We made it! The sun is finally shining over Tapspace HQ in Portland, and we’re only slightly water damaged.

Let’s be honest, we’re all still working to see the bright side amidst everything happening in the world. But the sunny skies mean the percussion community is kicking into high gear, and that brings us so much joy.

We’re excited to play our part in this summer's music activities. (Let's just hope our popsicles melt before we do...) We're also looking towards the Fall as new releases become available for concert halls everywhere. If you're interested, too, then read on - we're thankful for your time.

Latest Releases

In addition to our regular releases, we've been sharing peeks at the sheet music over on Instagram and YouTube. It's two birds with one stone: You get bite-sized glimpses at what's new in percussion music, AND it's a safer alternative to doomscrolling! Here are a few of our favorites:

Robert Sanderl's "Slow and Unsteady" is a display of advanced rudimental figures in a slow, flexible tempo. This is the snare drum in its most musical form. Freely express your own unique drumming voice - now available!
🍃🌾🏞️ Michal Brauhn Damm's "Big Springs" is a touching tribute to a loved one, full of folk-like nostalgia. This new med-advanced marimba duet is now available for the upcoming semester!
🚧🛠️🏗️ "Repair In Progress" is an intense, industrial ensemble piece by Kyle H. Peters. Inspired by the natural rhythms of a construction site, this work is now available for Fall programming!
☁️🍃✨ Kyle H. Peters' "Charm" is a haunting, lyrical solo for two-mallet vibraphone - perfect for recitals and cloudy days. Now available!

Time for Drumline!

Drum corps are already hard at work this summer, and marching band camps are quickly approaching. We've got you covered with new material to keep your drumline's hands moving!

For parades or game days coming up, look no further than our offering of cadences to keep audiences hyped and feet in time! Featuring a brand new release by Caleb Mooneyham, entitled Eckie's Beat. (See a quick score video below!)

We've also got a wide offering of original exercises and ensemble jams to keep performers sharp all the way through finals and beyond.

CATCH THE HYPE and fire up the crowd with this new cadence from Caleb Mooneyham 😎🎉 Now available for this summer/fall!

Demystifying Copyright

If the word "copyright" makes your skin crawl, you're not alone. We understand the struggle, so at Tapspace, we strive to make licensing and arrangement permissions as simple and affordable as possible.

To shed some light on the topic, we've created a guide outlining some of the big components of music copyright and how they relate to each other! We hope this serves as a handy reference for working with our music.
