Prescribed Burns - Bedford Heights

PRESS RELEASE - PRESCRIBED BURNS - BEFORD HEIGHTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 11, 2021

The Village of Bellevue contracted provider, NES Ecological Services will be conducting prescribed burns within the Village limits beginning May 14 and other future dates, weather conditions permitting.  These controlled burns are in storm water pond areas.  Prescribed burning is an important management tool used by natural area managers to control non-native, less desirable plant species.

On May 14, a controlled burn is planned for an area within the Bedford Heights subdivision.  Bedford Heights is generally located near the intersection of Main Street and Santa Monica Drive in Bellevue.  Residents in the area are advised to keep windows closed, refrain from hanging laundry, and refrain from other outdoor activities during the burn.

The Green Bay Metropolitan Fire Department is aware of these planned burns.  The Village of Bellevue will notify residents via social media and press releases as early as possible.  However, because these burns are weather dependent, it is difficult to pinpoint a date and time in advance.
