Lenoir-Rhyne performs at Christ the King

All are invited to the Lenoir-Rhyne University A Cappella Choir and Brass Ensemble Concert tomorrow evening, Saturday, March 25, at 7pm in the Sanctuary at Christ the King. Come and enjoy the concert at an ideal price--FREE! And come to worship on Sunday and enjoy hearing them again, as they join us and share their musical talent in both traditional services March 26.

Walk with Jesus on his
journey to the cross

Next week is Holy Week; starting on Palm Sunday we walk with Jesus on his week of passion. In between services, all are invited to a special journey to the cross event that covers the Stations of the Cross. This is meaningful because it makes us accompany Jesus on his passion. One station takes place in our prayer garden and we will pray together as Jesus did with his disciples in the garden before he died. We journey to his last supper with his disciples as if Jesus were there celebrating passover. Another stop will take us to the scene where Jesus washed his disciples feet as an act of service. We will then journey to the making of a cross as we each drive a nail into wood symbolizing Jesus crucifixion. And finally, we will spend time in the columbarium as a sign of the tomb where Jesus was laid to rest. Each station will have a reading, an activity, and a time for discussion and prayer.

Join us next week starting at 9:45am in Nagle Hall for this powerful walk through of these Stations of the Cross. We can’t emphasize enough that this event is suitable for all ages, so come experience the Passion Story for yourself. Also next week, we will begin worship outside on the hill for the procession of Palm Sunday. Then during Holy Week, join us for special Maundy Thursday and Good Friday Services, both at 6:30pm.

Help Camp Agapé with spring cleanup

Keep your work gloves close and plan to join us tomorrow, March 25, for a safe and fun work day at Agapé. Summer camp will be here before you know it and the grounds will be in need of some serious tidying up! As always, there will be plenty of jobs for all! Work starts at 8:30am. Make sure to have a hearty breakfast before you leave home! Free boxed lunches will be delivered to your camp worksite on Saturday! Enjoy fun and safe fellowship while you do God’s Work!

Candy packing for egg hunt needs helpers

Get ready to spread some Easter cheer! Will you help get our candy ready for our Easter Sunday Easter egg hunt? We will be packing lots and lots of bags with candy March 27, at 3 pm in the Atrium. Don’t miss out on this fun opportunity - and help just a little more by picking up a bag of individually wrapped candy at the store when you’re there this week. To be conscientious about food allergies, peanut-free candy is preferred.

For the egg hunt on Sunday, April 9, there’s no need to bring a basket, we will provide each child with an egg carton.

PARTICIPATE IN
“MOVING FORWARD IN FAITH” SMALL GROUPS

Christ the King is “Moving Forward in Faith,” embarking on a three-month project proposed by the Racial Solidarity Team to do a “racial equity assessment.” To help us do this important work, we have engaged Rev. Brenda Smith and Deacon Tammy Devine. Pastor Brenda visited Cary March 17-20 and conducted one-on-one interviews with CTK members who are BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). You can still connect with her via e-mail at brendiksmith@gmail.com.

Deacon Tammy is offering online small group sessions for our members who are White via zoom, lasting about 45 minutes to an hour. The following days and times are available:

  • Tuesday, March 28, 1pm
  • Wednesday, March 29, 10am and 4pm
  • Tuesday, April 4, 11am

Please select the date and time that works for you and sign up in Church Center. For questions about “Moving Forward in Faith,” call Pastor Wolfgang Herz-Lane at 856-278-3055.

Spring clean up is April 1

Spring Church Clean Up Day is April 1, 9am to 1pm. There are plenty of projects such as spreading mulch, trimming bushes and trees, weeding, picking up trash, hauling away yard waste, cleaning up our fountain and sprucing up our prayer and rain gardens. Chef Chris will be providing lunch for all willing helpers! Join us as we work together to bring our church grounds back to life in time for Holy Week and Easter. Sign up now in Church Center!

CHRIST THE KING LUTHERAN CHURCH
COVID Guidelines

Updated March 21, 2023
Christ the King Lutheran Church continues to follow the guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and the NC Governor’s office. We also consult with Dr. Larry Wu, our resident subject expert. Moving forward, rather than updating our policies in detail, we ask that members check the CDC website to determine the current coronavirus status of Wake County, then follow the guidelines provided there:
