Dear friends,

This is a special ARC email to invite to a time of prayer—individually, in your parishes, communities, circles—for the children who did not survive residential schools. On Monday, Archbishop Mark MacDonald (National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop), Bishop Lydia Mamakwa (Indigenous Spiritual Ministry of Mishamikoweesh) and I will travel to Ottawa for the ceremony during which the first list of names of children who died in residential schools will be released. Primate Linda and Archbishop MacDonald have prepared a statement, and Archbishop Mark has also written a Pastoral Letter.

Please pray for Indigenous communities, families, survivors, and for all who will be part of the ceremony in Ottawa. If words fail you in the face of this, it is understandable, so there several prayers that you can use. Please share them as widely as possible as all prepare to face another aspect of the atrocity of residential schools.

Christ have mercy,

Melanie
