Epic Documentary Explores Bethlehem

“Open Bethlehem,” a documentary filmed over a seven-year period, tells the story of Sansour, her legendary hometown, and the campaign for peace in Palestine/Israel.  The film will be shown tomorrow, November 17, 7:30 p.m., at the Doris Duke Theater of the Museum of Arts (900 S. Beretania Street, Honolulu).  Following the showing, Ibrahim Aoude, Ethnic Studies Professor at the University of Hawai'i, and Ali Musleh, graduate student, will answer questions.  Learn more about the documentary.

O'ahu Association Offers Polity Course

Kawaiaha'o Holiday Fair Features Crafts

The Annual Holiday Craft Fair and Makeke of Kawaiaha'o Church (957 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu) will take place on Saturday, November 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Featured will be “International” and “Made in Hawaii” crafts, along with food and entertainment.  For more information call 808-469-3000.

Filipino UCC Hosts Christmas Cantata

"Christmas in His Presence" a cantata featuring the children, youth and choir of Filipino United Church of Christ, will be presented twice at Filipino UCC (94-1366 Hiapo Street, Waipahu) on December 17 at 6 p.m. and December 18 at 10:30 a.m.  A third performance will take place at Kawaiaha'o Church (957 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu) on December 19 at 6 p.m.

Spirituality Contributes to Well-Being

Making Health Care Whole,” a workshop for spiritual care and healthcare providers, will make the connections between spirituality and patient well-being.  The workshop, presented by Hospice Hawaii and Pacific Health Ministry, will be held January 12, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Queen’s Conference Center (1301 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu).

Boundary Training and Ministry Are Topics of Clergy Workshop

UCC national staff, Elizabeth Dilley and Malcolm Himschoot, will lead boundary training and introduce proposed changes to the UCC Manual on Ministry at a clergy continuing education workshop on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Conference Office.  To register, email vmaunakea@hcucc.org.  A $10 fee for lunch and materials will be collected the day of the workshop.


Papa Makua Performs on Television

PBS Hawaii, as part of its "Na Mele" series, presenting the music of Hawai‘i performed by Hawai'i's best talents, will feature Papa Makua Kenneth Makuakane performing in the sanctuary of Kawaiaha'o Church.  The show will air on Monday, November 21, at 7:30 p.m.
