Funds for New & Renewing Churches

The UCC New & Renewing Churches Endowment Fund provides support for pastoral leadership and seed money for growth programs for new churches or churches that are in renewal. Funding applications are due by August 1. Click HERE to learn more.


Clergy Workshop: Care for Service Members

The National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the office of Senator Daniel Akaka are sponsoring a free one-day workshop for clergy of Hawai'i’s interfaith religious community on the challenges faced by service members and veterans experiencing post combat deployment difficulties. The workshop will be held on Thursday, August 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i in Kaneohe. Click HERE to register by July 31.

Attend the 'Aha Papa Himeni

Hawaiian churches are invited to the 'Aha Papa Himeni o Hawai'i to be held August 17-19 at Kaumakapili Church. The workshop will help reinforce the tradition of Hawaiian choral music through the singing of Hawaiian anthems. Registration fee is $25 per adult and $10 per youth ages 5 to 12. Kalaupapa Exhibit Opens on Maui

The traveling exhibit of photos and quotes of the people of Kalaupapa, developed by Ka 'Ohana O Kalaupapa, will be on display at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center from August 19 to September 30. At the opening on August 19, a panel discussion featuring Kalaupapa family members and descendants will take place from 2 to 4 p.m.

Recycle Your eWaste

Bring your eWaste—computers, monitors, laptops, printers and fax machines—to Central Union Church (1600 South Beretania Street, Honolulu) on Saturday, September 8, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the church’s Punahou Street parking lot. Click HERE for more information.

Transition House Plans Fundraiser

UCC Transition House will host its annual fundraiser event on Thursday, November 8, 5:30 to 9 p.m., at Makiki Christian Church. The evening will include a luau dinner, local entertainment and silent auction.


Ola'a Minister Resigns

Napua McShane-Burke resigned as Pastor of Ola'a First Hawaiian Church. Her last Sunday with the congregation was July 8.

Pastor to be Installed at Hanapepe Hawaiian

The Kaua'i Association will install Gwendolyn (Nani) Hill as Pastor of Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church on Sunday, August 19, 3 p.m., at the church located at 3815 Hanapēpē Road.

Hilo Coast Member Wins Award

Gary Hoff, husband of Hilo Coast UCC Pastor Linda Petrucelli, was recently recognized by the Hawai'i Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for his editorial cartoon, “A Sobering Statistic,” published in the Hawaii Tribune-Herald. Click HERE to read more.
