UCC Responds to Hurricane Matthew

Earlier this month, Hurricane Matthew brought widespread damage to Haiti, Cuba and the Southeastern coast of the U.S.  UCC Disaster Ministries has been providing support for relief and recovery efforts.  You can participate by making a contribution to the Emergency USA Fund or to the International Emergency Relief Fund and designating your gift to “Hurricane Matthew.”
 

Council Plans for Conference Assessment

The Conference Council, meeting jointly with Foundation Trustees last Saturday, October 22, welcomed consultant Al Oliver and discussed the Conference assessment process that he will lead over the next few months.  The assessment will test proposed mission initiatives for the Hawai'i Conference.  Learn more about the assessment process and find a location and date of a focus group near you. 
 

Chaplains Needed at Boy Scout Jamboree

Boy Scouts of America is seeking chaplains of all faiths to provide emotional and spiritual support to over 30,000 Scouts and adult leaders expected at the next National Jamboree in the summer of 2017 in West Virginia.  Click HERE for more  information, including qualifications and application instructions.

Manoa Church Hosts Harvest Fair

Manoa Valley Church (2728 Huapala Street, Honolulu) hosts its Annual Harvest Fair, featuring games, food and white elephant sale, on Saturday, November 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit the church’s building and maintenance fund.  For information, call 808-988-3271.

O'ahu Installs Makiki Associate Pastor

The O'ahu Association will install Gloria Imamura as Associate Pastor of Makiki Christian Church (829 Pensacola Street, Honolulu) on Sunday, November 6, at 4 p.m.
 

Michael Lapsley Speaks at Crossroads

Social justice activist, author and Anglican priest Michael Lapsley, who directs the Institute for Healing of Memories, will lead an informal “Talk Story” session on Monday, November 21, 5:30-8 p.m., at Church of the Crossroads (1212 University Avenue, Honolulu).
