Deepen Faith through Mid-Week Lenten Series

The Wednesday Evening Lenten Series at Central Union Church (1660 S. Beretania Street, Honolulu) offers labyrinth walks, meditations, meal and a faith-formation series, “Fasting: More with Less.”  The series runs from March 8 to April 5, all from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Does Your Church Need Accounting Software?

Council Invites Resolutions for 'Aha Pae'aina

Justice Award Nominations Being Accepted

Make a nomination for a General Synod 2017 Justice Award, recognizing exemplary justice work.  Award categories are youth/young adult, social prophet, local church, and grassroots organization.  Deadline for nominations is March 24.

Pearl City Community Church (933 Lehua Avenue, Pearl City) hosts Hawai'i State Senator Breene Harimoto, sharing his faith journey through his battle with cancer, at the church’s “Big Breakfast” on Saturday, March 11, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. 

AHEC Recognizes Ola'a Licensed Pastor

The Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches (AHEC) will hold a Service of Recognition for Lani Kapuni'ai, licensed minister of Ola'a First Hawaiian Church (17-1514 Hale Pule Loop, Kurtistown), on Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m. 

Community Invited to Active Aging Forum

Cullen Hayashida, an elder care program advisor, will speak about “Acquiring the Active Aging Perspective” on Saturday, March 18, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Pearl City Community Church (933 Lehua Avenue, Pearl City).

Teen Suicide Is Topic of Youth Gathering

Gary Augustin, Executive Director of Samaritan Counseling Center, will talk about "Teen Suicide Prevention" on March 19, 4 p.m., at Waiokeola Church (4705 Kilauea Avenue, Honolulu).  The program will begin with youth fellowship and games, followed by potluck supper.  If you are attending, email by March 12.

Boundary Training Will Be Offered on O'ahu

Boundary training for clergy will be offered on Saturday, April 22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Hawai'i Conference Office.  This six-hour session will be led by Gary Augustin, ordained minister and executive director of Samaritan Counseling Center.  All authorized clergy are required to fulfill a minimum number of hours of boundary training every one to three years (varies by association).  To register, send an email to, or call 808-537-9516.  A $20 fee for materials and lunch will be charged.

Wahiawa Church Sponsors Golf Tournament

Wahiawa UCC’s 5th Annual Golf Fellowship Fundraiser will benefit its men’s, women’s, and youth ministries, as well as its outreach programs.  The tournament will take place on Friday, June 30, starting at 12 p.m., at Mililani Golf Course.  Fee of $150 includes lunch, green fees, cart and awards dinner buffet banquet.  For more information call 808-621-8145.


Pastoral Transitions

  • Wally Ryan Kuroiwa concluded his interim ministry at Iao United Church of Christ on February 26.
  • Florentino Cordova begins March 1 as the newly called Pastor of Iao United Church of Christ.  Tino is an ordained minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and most recently served in California.

Kaua'i Church Honors Retired Pastor

Church of the Pacific in Princeville, Kaua'i, will honor its retired minister, Glenn Frazier, as Pastor Emeritus during worship on Sunday, March 12, at 9 a.m.
