Department of Health Launches New Crisis Line

The State Department of Health has expanded the former suicide prevention and counseling line into a 24-hour Crisis Line dedicated to helping and supporting individuals who are facing personal crises. O’ahu residents can reach the crisis line at 832-3100.  Neighbor island residents may call toll free at 1-800-753-6879.
 

Trustees Elect Foundation Officers for 2015-16

The trustees of the Hawai'i Conference Foundation met briefly on July 15, 2015, to elect officers for the new fiscal year.  Congratulations to these new officers:

Pu'a Foundation Screens “Ua Mau Ke Ea” Film

Pu'a Foundation will present a free screening of its film “Ua Mau Ke Ea,” on Friday, July 31, 4 p.m., at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts (900 S. Beretania Street, Honolulu).  Seats must be reserved in advance. View the film trailer.  For more information call 945-3570.
 

Donate to Transition House at Makiki Church

Makiki Christian Church is collecting donations of unused household and personal hygiene items for three women and their children who are expected to leave the UCC Transition House to live on their own.  Donations should be dropped off by July 26.  For more information click HERE.
 

Kaua'i Clergy Gather for “Non-Retreat”

Kaua'i pastors are invited to a “Non-Retreat” retreat on August 30-31, from Sunday dinner to Monday lunch, at Waineke Cabins in Koke'e State Park.  There will be no agenda except to provide time for pastors to get away and relax. For more information, contact Glenn Frazier at 634-0041.

In Memory: Evyn Adams

Word comes from the family of Evyn Adams that this retired missionary, college professor, and minister died March 5, 2015, in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 95.  The Rev. Adams, who taught religion for 22 years at the University of Hawai'i in Hilo, was also pastor of Puula UCC and Lanakila Congregational Church before he retired in 1993.  Memorial service will be held at a later date.
