UCC Responds to Ebola Outbreak

The United Church of Christ working with ACT Alliance, a global alliance of churches and related organizations, has donated $12,000 to assist in the care for those affected by the deadly Ebola virus that has so far killed 3,000.  Individuals and congregations interested in supporting this effort can learn more and donate to One Great Hour of Sharing.

'Aha Halawai Registration Closes this Friday

The Fall 'Aha Halawai of the Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches will be held October 17-18 at Haili Congregational Church (21 Haili Street, Hilo).  Click HERE for the registration packet.  To register online, click HERE.  Registration deadline is this Friday, October 3.

 
Register for O'ahu 'Aha Mokupuni

The O'ahu Association Fall 'Aha Mokupuni will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Nu'uanu Congregational Church (2651 Pali Highway, Honolulu).  Registration deadline is October 8.

 
Service Recognizes Maui Licensed Minister

The Tri-Isle Association will hold a Service of Recognition for Miguel Morales, licensed minister of Maui Evangelical Church, on Sunday, October 19, 3 p.m., at the church (256 Hina Avenue, Kahului).

 
Hawai'i Island Announces Fall 'Aha Mokupuni

The Hawai'i Island Association 'Aha Mokupuni will be held on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Lanakila Congregational Church (79-7352 Mamalahoa Highway, Kainaliu).

Pacific School of Religion Gathers Supporters

Kailua Church Holds Harvest Fair

Kailua Christian Church (317 Manono Street, Kailua) will hold its annual Harvest Fair on Saturday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Food, arts and crafts, plants, silent auction, mini-garage sale and Blood Mobile will be on hand.  For more information call the church office at 808-261-0125.
 

Health Inequity Highlights Watada Lecture

Anthony Iton will be the guest speaker at the 2014 Watada Lecture Series on October 4, 5 p.m., at Church of the Crossroads (1212 University Avenue, Honolulu).  The theme, "Tackling Health Inequity: A Practical Approach to Upstream Community Prevention," encourages community action to improve access to healthy food, safety on the streets, green public parks, quality education and local employment opportunities.  
 

Keep Your Brain Healthy

Naori Yamashiro, second-year Geriatric Medicine Fellow at Kuakini Medical Center, will present “Keeping Your Brain Healthy and Active” at Manoa Valley Church (2728 Huapala Street) on Wednesday, October 8, 9-11 a.m., in the Multipurpose Room.  In addition to her presentation, exercises to help keep your brain healthy and active will be demonstrated.
 

Pa'ia Church Observes All Saints with Ho'ike

Pa'ia Hawaiian Protestant Church (246 Hana Highway) will celebrate All Saints Day with a Ho'ike on November 1, 9-11:30 a.m.  Lunch will be served following the service.  RSVP by October 20 to Judy Gibbs at 808-667-4373.
 

Ka'ahumanu Church Lights Candles for Loved Ones

  • Tom Fujita will begin as Interim Minister of Lihue Christian Church beginning October 4.
  • Sharon MacArthur, retired minister from Northern California, will serve as Interim Minister of Church of the Crossroads starting October 1.
