Register Now for Fall Youth Camp

The deadline to register for the Hawai'i Conference Fall Youth Camp is this Friday, September 6.  The camp will take place from Sunday, October 6, to Tuesday, October 8, at Camp Mokule'ia on the North Shore of O'ahu.

Give Aloha in September

During the month of September, you can donate up to $249 to each non-profit organization participating in Foodland’s Give Aloha campaign.  Foodland will then pass on your gift to the organization along with an additional donation.  Listed below are donation numbers for UCC churches and affiliates participating in this year’s Give Aloha program:

Sakura Ensemble Holds Concert

The Sakura Ensemble will hold a concert on Friday, September 6, 7 p.m. at United Community Church (1110 Kino'ole Street, Hilo). The concert is a send-off event for the Sakura Ensemble’s ecumenical tour of Japan, which will begin later this month and will benefit victims of the 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear power plant disasters.  The ensemble includes members of Church of the Holy Cross (Hilo) and Ho'olokahi Church (Kona).

Forum Focuses on Peace

The Pacific Peace Forum is a potluck gathering around peace and non-violence training.  The forum, which will include a partial showing of the film, “Hawai'i’s Last Queen,” will be held on Friday, September 6, 6 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Cathedral (229 Queen Emma Square, Honolulu).  For more information contact Kaleo Patterson at 808-330-3769.

Community Leaders Prepare for Natural Disaster

The National Disaster Preparedness Training Center will present Natural Disaster Awareness for Community Leaders on September 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Japanese Cultural Center (2454 South Beretania Street, Honolulu).  This 4-hour course will provide community leaders with an understanding of the necessary plans and tools needed in planning for natural disasters.  For information contact Richard Frost by phone at 808-733-4300, ext. 545, or email at rfrost@scd.hawaii.gov.

Register for Church School Training Workshop

This week is the deadline to register on-line for Children Worship & Wonder training, which takes place September 13-15 at Christ Church Uniting in Kailua, O'ahu.  This church school program helps children learn about God by experiencing God.  The training is sponsored by the Hawai'i Conference UCC and Pacific Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Waiokeola Celebrates Re-opening and Return

Waiokeola Congregational Church (4705 Kilauea Avenue, Honolulu) will move worship back into its newly renovated sanctuary and Pastor Chris Eng will return from his sabbatical on Sunday, September 15, 9 a.m.  A Welcome Home Celebration including refreshments and information about the work of the church will follow the service.


Register for O'ahu Fall 'Aha Mokupuni

The O'ahu Association 'Aha Mokupuni will be held on Saturday, October 12, at Manoa Valley Church.  Information has been sent to O'ahu churches.  Click HERE to download the registration packet.

AHEC Holds Fall  'Aha Halawai

Central Union Invites Women to Retreat

“God is Still Speaking” is the theme of Central Union Church’s Women’s Retreat, which takes place October 25-27 at Camp Mokule'ia on O'ahu.  All women are invited.  Deadline to register is October 6.
