New on the Website

At the Investors Workshop last Saturday, March 31, participants learned more about the current state of the economy in relation to investments and were introduced to Oikocredit, USA, which provides microcredit loans to help some of the poorest people in the world move out of poverty. Deadline Approaches for Friend Peace Scholarship

The Richards Friend Peace Scholarship Committee is receiving applications through April 30 for scholarships to be awarded in the 2012-13 academic year. The scholarship, funded through an endowment begun by Theodore and Mary Atherton Richards, provides scholarships for students from Pacific Basin region countries studying in the U.S., or U.S. students studying in a Pacific Basin country. Lumana'i Fundraiser & Scholarship Banquet

The Lumana'i Scholarship Committee of the O’ahu Association will hold a fundraiser tomorrow, April 5, at Farrington High School auditorium, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free, and proceeds from the event, featuring dance groups from churches and community organizations, will fund scholarships for outstanding high school seniors of Samoan descent. Scholarships will be awarded at a special banquet on Thursday, April 19, 6:00 p.m. at Central Union Church. Contact Iese Tuuao at 808-691-9907 or ituuao@aol.com to purchase tickets for this dinner.

Boundary Training Offered on Maui

Boundary Training for clergy will be held on Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Iao United Church of Christ (2371 West Vineyard Street, Wailuku). EASTER SUNRISE SERVICES

Annual Ecumenical Service at Punchbowl

The 111th Annual Easter Sunrise Service at the National Memorial of the Pacific at Punchbowl will begin at 6:15 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 8. Guest speaker for this long-running ecumenical service, sponsored by the Hawai'i Council of Churches, is UCC minister George Scott, Chaplain at Punahou School and part-time youth minister at Central Union Church. Also participating in the service are the Royal Hawaiian Band and the Central Union Youth Choir. For additional information, click HERE.

World Botanical Garden in Hakalau

The Second Annual Easter Sunrise Service hosted by World Botanical Gardens (31-240 Old Mamalahoa Highway, Hakalau) will take place at Kamae’e Falls overlook on Sunday, April 8, 6 a.m. This informal service will be led by Linda Petrucelli, Pastor of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ. Kaumakapili Church (766 North King Street, Honolulu) is hosting its annual Easter Sunrise service in its sanctuary at 6:30 a.m.

Waianae

Easter Sunrise Worship Service at Ka Hana O Ke Akua UCC (Lualualei Homestead Road, one mile mauka of Farrington Highway in Waianae) will begin on Sunday, April 8, at 6:30 a.m.

Halona Blowhole

Nu'uanu Congregational Church and Hawai'i Kai United Church of Christ will celebrate a joint sunrise service at Halona Blowhole Lookout on Sunday, April 8, 6 a.m.

Holy Week Retreat

  Workshop Canceled

The workshop, "No Longer Strangers: The Practice of Radical Hospitality," announced in a previous Coconut Wireless and scheduled for April 14, has been canceled.
