Conference Office Closed June 6 & 11

The Conference office will be closed on Friday, June 6, due to the 'Aha Pae'aina, and on Tuesday, June 11, in observance of Kamehameha Day.
 

Hawai'i Island Meets for 'Aha Mokupuni

The Hawai'i Island Association 'Aha Mokupuni will be held this Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Church of the Holy Cross (440 W. Lanikaula Street, Hilo).  Highlights include worship, sharing, elections, and boundary training.
 

'Aha Pae'aina Updates

  • Handbooks for the 'Aha Makua and 'Aha Iki have been posted on the Conference website.
  • Parking for the 'Aha Makua will be limited.  Attendees are encouraged to carpool, get dropped off, or arrive early.  Click HERE for parking suggestions and options. 
  • 'Aha Makua worship planners invite people to bring a three to eight-foot long piece of yarn, string, light rope, reed, crumpled paper, wool, etc. on Friday.  These will be woven into a wall hanging to symbolize the 'Aha Pae'aina theme, “Bind Us Together." 

Boesak Speaks in Hawai'i, Schedule Revised

The schedule of events for Allan Boesak's appearances in Hawai'i has been revised.  Dr. Boesak, the Desmond Tutu Chair of Peace, Global Justice and Reconciliation Studies at Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, was last year's 'Aha Pae'aina keynote speaker. 
 

Missionary to Japan Will Visit Hawai'i

Martha Mensendiek, Global Ministries missionary to Japan, will visit the Hawai'i Conference September 1-19 to speak about her work at Doshisha University in Kyoto.  If you would like her to share a missions moment or speak to a missions committee or other group in your church, contact Diane Weible at dweible@hcucc.org or 808-791-5633 (1-800-734-7610 ext. 633 from neighbor islands).

Kaua'i to Install Minister at Hanapepe

The Kaua'i Association will hold a Service of Installation for Michael Christensen, Pastor of Hanapepe UCC, on June 22, 3 p.m., at the church (4481 Kona Road, Hanapepe).
 

Church Present Conference on Good and Beautiful God

“Life with the Good and Beautiful God,” a conference sponsored by Makiki Christian Church and Hawai'i Kai UCC, along with Logos Bookstore, will take place June 27-28 at Makiki Christian Church (829 Pensacola Street, Honolulu).  Main speaker is author James Bryan Smith.  Registration fee of $20 include meals and resource materials.  To register, call Logos Bookstore at 808-596-8890.
