Recovery Continues after Ecuador Earthquake

Election Means Opportunities and Limits for Churches

During this election season, churches are reminded that as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, they may not actively campaign for or against particular candidates.  Churches can, however, discuss issues of public policy.  Use these guidelines prepared by the UCC to be sure your congregation is participating constructively in the political process.

Hawai'i Gives Generously to Christmas Fund

Four churches in the Hawai'i Conference were recognized for their generous giving to the United Church of Christ Christmas Fund in 2015.  Among 5,000 UCC congregations, Lahuiokalani Ka'anapali, Waioli Hui'ia and Koloa Union Churches were all among the top ten per capita givers in 2015; and Central Union Church was second in total overall giving!  Churches in Hawai'i gave a total of $50,684 to the Christmas Fund, which provides emergency grants to pastors and assistance to retirees. 

Fall Youth Camp Registration Opens

The Hawai'i Conference Fall Youth Camp will take place from Sunday, October 9, to Wednesday, October 12, at Camp Mokule'ia on the North Shore of O'ahu.  Spaces are limited, so register early using the forms that were mailed to churches last week or go online

Clergy Retreat Features UCC President

John Dorhauer, General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ, will be the featured guest at the Annual Conference Clergy Retreat taking place from Monday, September 26, to Wednesday, September 28, at the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu.  The Rev. Pastor to Be Installed at Honolulu Cosmopolitan

The O'ahu Association will install Alan Patadlas as Pastor of Honolulu Cosmopolitan UCC (1106 Halona Street, Honolulu) on Sunday, September 4, at 4 p.m.
