Churches Can Offer Supportive Ministry for Veterans

“Moral Injury” is a day-long workshop on ministry with and support of veterans returning home from combat. Stephen Boyd, retired military chaplain and currently UCC Minister for Chaplains and Specialized Ministries, will lead the workshop this Saturday, September 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Windward United Church of Christ (38 Kaneohe Bay Drive, Kailua). Youth Camp Deadline Is September 14

Spaces are filling up, so be sure to register for the Hawai'i Conference Fall Youth Camp before the deadline next Monday, September 14.  Camp will take place from Sunday, October 4, to Wednesday, October 7, at Camp Erdman on the North Shore of O'ahu.

Film Chronicles Journey from Grief to Hope

The Hawai'i Region of Institute for Healing of Memories will show In Our Son’s Name, a film about a couple’s transformation of grief when their son died in 9/11 into acts of peacemaking, solidarity and hope, on Friday, September 11, 7 p.m., at Church of the Crossroads (1212 University Avenue, Honolulu).

In Memory: Masayoshi Wakai

Retired minister Masayoshi (Mas) Wakai died September 4 at the age of 99.  The Rev. Wakai was ordained in 1942 and served as minister of Hilo Coast UCC and chaplain with the State of Hawai'i Corrections Division.  His family includes sons Eugene and Allan.
