'Aha Pae'aina Wrap-up
Mahalo to Mokuaikaua Church and the Hawai'i Island Association for hosting the 191st 'Aha Pae'aina earlier this month!

Special offerings were received during the two 'Aha Makua worship services. Offering from the Friday morning worship totaled $1,337 for the Vesper Maile Ito Fund. The offering received Saturday morning to benefit Our Church’s Wider Mission totaled $1,237.

Kalaupapa Sunday Resolution Passes
The resolution to establish a Kalaupapa Sunday
received unanimous approval by delegates to the 191st 'Aha Pae'aina. The Conference Council will now take steps in the implementation of this resolution, including the setting of a suggested date or dates and the dissemination of resources, including resources
that have already been prepared.
New on the Website
In addition to being the keynote speaker at the 'Aha Pae'aina, Allan Boesak
participated in two other events this month. Posted on the website are photos from the Community Forum held June 15 at Keawala’i Congregational Church on Maui, and the Ecumenical Clergy Gathering held June 18 at 15 Craigside in Honolulu.

In Memory: Thomas Okuma
Thomas Okuma, 93, died May 22. The Rev. Okuma was pastor of churches in the Hawaiian Evangelical Association (now Hawai'i Conference UCC) from 1946-1949. He also served as a missionary to Angola from 1950 to 1961 and later as secretary for the World Council of Churches program on Racial and Ethnic Relations. He is survived by daughters Yuki Okuma and Katy White, daughter-in-law Ann, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Information about memorial service is to be announced.
