Council Converses with UCC President and Begins Work

The Conference Council at its first meeting of the new fiscal year was joined by Geoffrey Black, UCC General Minister and President, and Karen Georgia Thompson, UCC Ecumenical Officer.  In addition to receiving updates from them about the national church and the UCC’s ecumenical and interfaith relationships, the Council took time for orientation, established a process to receive proposals from audit firms for this year’s audit, and set the dates of June 5-6, 2015, for the 'Aha Pae'aina to take place at Central Union Church.  To find out more about the work of the Council, email Chair Iese Tuuao or Conference Minister Charles Buck.

Make Plans to Attend Fall Youth Camp

The Fall Youth Camp of the Hawai'i Conference will be held from Sunday, October 5, to Wednesday, October 8, at Camp Erdman on the North Shore of O'ahu. The cost will be $100 for youth from O'ahu and $150 for neighbor island youth (includes airfare). Information and registration forms will be available soon.

O'ahu Churches Are Invited to Plan for 2016 Youth Event

O'ahu churches interested in sending youth to Orlando, Florida, for the next UCC National Youth Event, “BELIEVE,” in July 2016, are invited to a meeting to discuss funding and planning ideas.  The meeting will be held on August 27, 5 p.m., in the Conference Office.  Please contact Scott Davis by email at or by phone at 808-791-5636 by August 20 if you will be attending.

Mokuaikaua Pastor to Be Installed

The Hawai'i Island Association will install David de Carvalho as Pastor of Mokuaikaua Church (75-5713 Alii Drive, Kailua-Kona) on Saturday, August 16, at 10 a.m.

UCC–Judd Street Holds Annual Lu'au

UCC–Judd Street (467 N. Judd Street, Honolulu) holds its 58th Annual Lu'au on Saturday, August 16. Proceeds from this pick-up only lu'au benefit Adult Friends for Youth and Susannah Wesley Community Center.  Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased by calling the church office at 808-536-8418.
