General Synod: Finish the Phrase

“God’s Vision:______” is the theme for the United Church of Christ’s General Synod 29, to be held June 28-July 2, 2013, in Long Beach, California.  UCC members are invited to finish the theme phrase by submitting one or two words along with a picture or video.  Deadline for submissions is October 31, 2012. Crossroads Hosts Pre-Watada Lecture

Church of the Crossroads (1212 University Avenue, Honolulu) will host a panel discussion on the “Economic and Environmental Impacts of Militarization in Hawai'i” on Friday, September 7, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the church sanctuary. Renie Wong Lindley, Executive Director of Hawaii Peace Justice, will moderate the discussion following her presentation on the topic. Ewa Community Mission Fair

Ewa Community Church (91-1258 Renton Road, Ewa) will hold its 31st Annual Mission Fair on Saturday, September 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The Fair will include food, plants, home-made baked items, crafts, games, silent auction, and more.  For additional information, click HERE.

Kaua'i Association Pizza and Movie Night

UCC Transition House Fundraiser

  Women in Theology and Ministry 2013 Conference

Center for Asian/Asian American Ministries at Garrett-Evangelical Seminary will host a Pacific, Asian, and North American Asian Women in Theology and Ministry Conference from March 14-16, 2013, at its campus in in Evanston, Illinois.  For more information, click HERE.


  Memorial Service for Dan Nebres

A memorial service for UCC minister Daniel R. Nebres, who died in April 2012 in the  Philippines, will be held this Saturday, September 8, 10 a.m., at Moanalua Community Church (4867 Bougainville Drive, Honolulu).  Click HERE to view a flyer for this service.

Dean Fujii Shares Oral History

Dean Fujii, retired UCC minister and former Papa Makua, will be featured on Olelo TV’s Na Leo Makamae program on NATV Channel 53.  The show, “Quite a Journey for a Country Boy,” will air as follows:
  • Friday, September 7, 2:00 p.m.    
  • Thursday, September 13, 9:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, September 15, 10:30 p.m. 

Ministers Change at Wananalua

Margaret Watson departed as Interim Pastor of Wananalua Congregational Church in Hana, Maui, on August 31.  Succeeding her is Paulette Harwood, who began on Sunday, September 2.  The Rev. Harwood is a retired UCC minister from Connecticut.
