The Conference Office will be closed tomorrow, Holy Thursday, April 13, and Good Friday, April 14.  The office will reopen on Monday, April 17.

 Updates May Interrupt Phone System

The Conference Office will be upgrading its telephone system on Monday, April 17, and Tuesday, April 18.  On those days, service may be intermittent.  If your call goes unanswered and you are not directed to voicemail, please try again later or send an email to the staff person you are trying to reach.  A staff directory can be found on the Hawai'i Conference website.

 Register for the 195th 'Aha Pae'aina

The 195th 'Aha Pae'aina, the annual meeting of the Hawai'i Conference, will take place the week of June 14 (Hawaiian churches, June 14-15; all churches, June 16-17) at Kamehameha Schools Maui.  Registration packets were mailed to churches this week.  Click HERE to view this information on the website and to register on-line.

 UCC Invites Videos to Share at Synod

Is your church making a difference by caring for God’s children and God’s creation?  Tell your story in a short, 30 to 60 second video and submit it for showing at this summer’s General Synod in Baltimore.  Deadline for video submissions is May 30.

Creation Justice Ministries provides resources for churches to observe Earth Day Sunday (April 23).  Download the toolkit and other materials focusing on this year’s theme, “Environmental Justice with Indigenous People.”


 Council of Churches Sponsors 116th Sunrise Service

The Hawai'i Council of Churches, which includes the Hawai'i Conference UCC, invites everyone to the 116th Annual Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 16, starting at 6:15 a.m. (gate opens at 4:30 a.m.).  Participants this year include the Royal Hawaiian Band, the Rev. Brandon Duran of Central Union Church and the Central Union Youth Choir.

 Waiokeola Church Collects Food Bank Donations

The Hawai'i Food Bank’s annual food drive will be held this Saturday, April 15.  Waiokeola Church (4705 Kilauea Avenue, Honolulu) is an official drop-off site with volunteers available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to collect canned goods and donations (make checks payable to: Hawai'i Food Bank).

 Nu'uanu Church Hosts Green Day Fair

The Ulu Wai Ministry of Nu'uanu Congregational Church (2651 Pali Highway, Honolulu) is holding “Green Day IV” on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This fair will feature a vermicomposting information session, paper shredding services, computer e-waste collection, waterless car washes, and more.

  • Wendi Gordon is resigning as Pastor of Ka Hana O Ke Akua Church to take a new call in Texas.  Her last Sunday is April 23.
  • Jack Belsom will conclude his interim ministry at Kailua Christian Church on April 23.
