Pension Boards Eliminates Investments in Coal and Tar Sands

The Investment Committee of the Pension Boards of the United Church of Christ recently voted to eliminate individually-held investments in oil sands and thermal coal.  Read more on the Pension Boards website.
 

Pre-Retirement Seminar Is for Hawai'i Members

Don’t Forget to Take Leaders Event Survey

An email link to a survey on the Church Leaders Event held last month was sent to participants.  If you attended and did not receive the survey, email leehenrychang@hcucc.org.  Responses will be accepted until Friday, March 11. 
 

Latinos/Latinas in UCC Are Invited to Give Input

The UCC’s Council for Hispanic Ministries invites Latinos/Latinas in the UCC to fill out a survey, which will be used to help the Council guide the future directions of its ministry.
 

Training Program Prepares Volunteers for Spiritual Care

A six-week Spiritual Care Volunteer Training, offered by Pacific Health Ministry, will be held at St. John Lutheran Church (1004 Kailua Road, Kailua) on Wednesday evenings, 5:30-7:30 p.m., from April 6 to May 11.  Individuals will be trained in spiritual/pastoral care visitation and care-giving to support congregational needs.  Registration deadline is April 3.  For information call 808-591-6556, ext. 206, or email cpedirector@phmhawaii.org.

O'ahu Churches Join Together for Good Friday

Lili'uokalani Protestant Church and Waialua United Church of Christ will join together for a Good Friday Service with special music on March 25, 7 p.m., at Waialua UCC (67-174 Farrington Highway, Waialua).
 

Easter Sunrise Service Features Kawaiaha'o Member, Senator

Daniel Akaka, member of Kawaiaha'o Church and retired U.S. Senator, will be this year's preacher at the Easter Sunrise Service at Punchbowl on March 27, 6:15 a.m.  This annual service, now in its 115th year, is sponsored by the Hawai'i Council of Churches, which includes the Hawai'i Conference UCC.

Musician Performs, Leads Choral Master Classes

Mark Hayes, a concert pianist, composer and conductor, will be in Hawai'i to perform and teach:

Moanalua Church Celebrates Spring

Moanalua Community Church (4867 Bougainville Drive, Honolulu) will host its 10th Annual Spring Celebration on Sunday, March 27, 12-4 p.m.  The event will include egg hunts, relays with the Easter Bunny, pie eating contest, bounce houses, carnival games, and food.
 

California High School Choir Performs on O'ahu 

The 61-voice Concert Choir from Heritage Christian School in Granada Hills, California, will perform Friday, April 1, 7 p.m., at Filipino United Church of Christ (94-1355 Hiapo Street, Waipahu).  Potluck dinner and cultural program will follow.  For more information call 808-220-3255.
