Kana'ana Hou-Siloama Church Book Available

The new book, Adjourned with a Prayer, which chronicles the Kana'ana Hou-Siloama Church’s history through meeting minutes taken from 1866 to 1928, is now available for purchase. Cost of the book is $20 (plus shipping) and can be purchased through the Conference Office.

  Volunteer Opportunities

Mission Houses Museum is seeking volunteers to assist with its 'Ike Ku'oko'a―Liberating Knowledge initiative to transcribe Hawaiian language newspapers printed between 1834 and 1949 into searchable typescript. Volunteers do not need Hawaiian language skills and are asked to type one page (or more) in support of this effort. For information click HERE.

Hawaii Literacy’s Adult Literacy Program is looking for volunteer tutors. The organization also wants to reach out to adult new learners who can benefit from this program. Click HERE for a flyer.

  Summer Internships at Nu'uanu Church

The College Summer Internship at Nu'uanu Congregational Church is a ten-week program for college students interested in serving the church and exploring the connection between faith and vocation. The internship runs from June 1 to August 12, 2012. The church is also seeking an intern coordinator with a minimum of two years college experience.   “Our Whole Lives” Curriculum Training

Church of the Crossroads will host a training on January 20 to 22 for those interested in being trainers for levels K-1 and 4-6 of the Our Whole Lives (OWL) curriculum, a sexuality education program developed by the UCC and the Unitarian Universalist Association. Teams of at least two (one male, one female) are encouraged to attend. Leading the sessions are Ann Hanson of the UCC national offices and Nan Kleiber of First Unitarian Church of Honolulu.   Prescription Drugs and Herbal Medicines: Do They Mix?

Waiokeola Church’s Faith Hope and Healing Support Group invites everyone to hear Mervyn Lum, a Long's pharmacist, discuss the possible drug interactions between herbal medicines and prescription and over-the-counter medications. The group will meet on January 22, 10:45 a.m., at Waiokeola Congregational Church (4705 Kilauea Ave, Honolulu) in the Seniors Meeting Room. You are encouraged to bring all your current medicines in a bag and find out what interactions may exist.

  Maui Songwriting Workshop

Ken Makuakane, Program Associate for the Hawai'i Conference UCC, will offer an introductory workshop, “Praise and Worship Songwriting,” at Waihe'e Protestant Church (2101 Kahekili Hwy, Wailuku). This free, day-long workshop will be held on Saturday, January 28, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Click HERE to view the flyer.
