Council Extends Conference Minister’s Term

The Conference Council and Conference Minister have changed the Rev. Buck’s resignation end date and agreed on July 4 (from the earlier announced date of June 4).  Read the letter from the Rev. Dr. Iese Tuuao, Chair of the Conference Council.

 Faith and Environment Connect Young Adults

Young adults (ages 20-30) who care about the faith and the environment are invited to “Water Is Life: Journeying toward Justice on the James River,” an Eco-Stewards Program that shapes leaders through place-based experiences.  The program takes place June 5-10 in Richmond, Virginia. Application deadline is April 15.

 O'ahu Churches Meet for Spring Meeting

The O'ahu Association Spring 'Aha Mokupuni will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at United Church of Christ—Judd Street (467 North Judd Street, Honolulu).  Registration deadline is April 25. 

 Fundraiser Supports Women Transitioning from Prison

Celebrating Female Empowerment,” a Pu'a Foundation fundraiser to benefit women transitioning out of prison, will be held May 19, 5:30-8:30 p.m., at Kapi'olani Community College’s Ohia Dining Room.

Nationwide March Planned for Climate, Jobs and Justice

Climate marches are being organized for April 29 in Washington, D.C., and around the country, including Hawai'i, by the People’s Climate Movement with co-sponsorship by UCC Justice and Witness Ministries and the Council for Climate Justice.  Learn more and participate in Honolulu, Kailua-Kona and Hilo.

Boundary Training Satisfies Requirement for Clergy

Gary Augustin, ordained minister and executive director of Samaritan Counseling Center, will lead a six-hour boundary training session on Saturday, April 22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Hawai'i Conference Office.  All authorized clergy are required to fulfill a minimum number of hours of boundary training every one to three years (varies by association).  To register, send an email to, or call 808-537-9516.  A $20 fee for materials and lunch will be collected.

Interim Ministry Network Gathers in Baltimore

The Interim Ministry Network will hold its 37th annual conference on June 19-22 in Baltimore.  This year’s meeting, "Knowing Where We Stand in a Changing World: Mission, Vision, Values," will feature keynote and workshop speakers on the subject of preserving faith while adapting to changing contexts.

Jaya Prakash (JP) Sabbithi¸ Director of Counseling Services at Hospice Hawai'i, resigned his ordained ministerial standing in the O'ahu Association of the United Church of Christ as of April 1.
