Faith Leaders Invited to Learn About Ebola

This Saturday, October 18, from 5 to 6 a.m. (Hawai'i time), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will conduct a conference call for faith and community leaders regarding the Ebola outbreak. Along with updates on what the CDC is doing to help stop the spread, the call will address the role of churches, community and family. To join in, call 1-800-857-5755 (passcode: Community).

Respond to Human Rights Abuses in Philippines

Following the recent bombing of a church in Pikit, Cotabato, in the Philippines, the General Secretary of the United Church of Christ Philippines (UCCP) has posted a call for prayer and for peace. Wider Church Executives Visit Hawai'i

James Moos, Executive Minister of UCC Wider Church Ministries, and Jane Sullivan-Davis, Director of Resource Development, will visit Hawai'i later this month. Norma DeSaegher retired as Pastor of Waipahu United Church of Christ last Sunday, October 12. She served the church for five years.

Central Union Youth Makes Big Play

Laura Tyler, member of Central Union Church and a senior at Castle High School, was highlighted last week as Athlete of the Week by Laura, who was recognized for a tackle that prevented a touchdown, has been a kicker on the team since her junior year.
