 Allan Boesak Returns to Hawai'i

Allan Boesak, the Desmond Tutu Chair of Peace, Global Justice and Reconciliation Studies at Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, will be in Hawai'i this summer to speak around the islands in June and to guest preach at Keawala'i Church on Maui in July.  Following is a tentative schedule of his appearances, which are free and open to the public unless otherwise indicated:

Late Registration for 'Aha Pae'aina

Although the deadline to register for the 2014 'Aha Pae'aina has passed, you can still register for the 'Aha Makua with $30 late fee through May 27.

Dates Announced for National Youth Event

The next UCC National Youth Event, “Believe,” will be held July 26-29, 2016, at the Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  Full information and details have yet to be announced, but churches and youth who will be ages 13 to 18 at the time of the event can begin planning to attend by saving these dates. 
 

O'ahu Association to Gather

The O'ahu Association will gather for its Spring 'Aha Mokupuni this Saturday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Makiki Christian Church (829 Pensacola Street, Honolulu).  The program includes discussion of homelessness and mental illness in Hawai'i, particularly how they impact churches engaged in outreach ministry to the houseless.

 Kaua'i Approves Minister and Youth Coordinator

At its Spring ‘Aha Mokupuni on May 4, the Kaua'i Association:
  • Approved Mary Herbig for ordination pending a call.  
  • Named Rennie Mau as Island-Wide Youth Coordinator, a new position effective July 1.
