Help Revise UCC Nursing Manual

Input is being sought in the revision of the United Church of Christ’s Manual on Faith Community Nursing (parish nursing).  If you are part of or participate in a health ministry team, or are a faith community nurse, take this brief survey by November 30.

Disabilities Ministries Seeks Board Nominations

UCC Disabilities Ministries is seeking nominations to fill four seats on its Board of Directors. Nominees should be members of a UCC congregation who are able to devote ten hours per week to this work. Deadline for nominations is December 9, 2016.

Central Union Hosts “Messiah”

Mini-Retreat Offers Respite from Holiday Rush

“They Who Wait” is an Advent mini-retreat offered by ReSource for Christian Spirituality.  The retreat will take place on Saturday, December 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church (4364 Hardy Street, Lihue).

Family Events Highlight Advent at Kawaiaha'o

Kawaiaha'o Church (957 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu) will offer family-fun activities during Advent.  On December 14-16 and December 18-23, there will be food trucks, craft booths and a live nativity scene starting at 4:30 p.m., followed by a play, “The Nativity Story: The Story of the First Christmas,” at 7 p.m.

Pearl City Pastor Recognized as Good Neighbor

Phil Reller, Pastor of Pearl City Community Church, was recently highlighted as a Good Neighbor in MidWeek magazine for coordinating the restoration and cleanup of a bunker adjacent to the Ewa/Pearl City District Court.


Rancher Tells Stories of Old Hawai'i

Monty Richards, member of Kalahikiola Church (Kapa'au, Hawai'i Island) and co-chair of the Hawai'i Conference Foundation Board of Trustees, tells stories from his six decades managing KahuńĀ Ranch in Kohala in Ranching Under the Rainbow, an autobiographical oral history.  

Maui Chaplain Retires

Danette Kong retired from her position as Chaplain Coordinator of Maui Memorial Medical Center at the end of October 2016.  The Rev. Kong, a member of Keawala'i Church on Maui, will continue as an on-call chaplain at the hospital.
