Give Feedback on Changes to UCC Constitution and Bylaws

The United Church of Christ Board of Directors invites UCC members to complete a survey about bylaws changes and constitutional amendments planned for consideration at the next General Synod in 2017.  The proposed changes can be found in an FAQ document.
 

Elna Boesak Talks about Gender-Based Violence

“Listen, They Weep…: The Many Faces and Places of Gender Violence Today” is the subject of a talk by Elna Boesak, South African journalist, documentary filmmaker and doctoral candidate studying religion and gender.  She will speak at a public forum this Friday, July 8, 6-8:30 p.m., in the sanctuary of Church of the Crossroads (1212 University Avenue, Honolulu).
 

Ka'ahumanu Raises Funds for Restoration

Food, crafts, music and more can be found at Kokua I Ka Hale Pule, a fundraiser for Ka'ahumanu Church’s restoration fund.  The event will be held Sunday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the church grounds (103 South High Street, Wailuku).  For information call 808-446-4649.
 

O'ahu Association Convenes Ecclesiastical Council

The O'ahu Association will examine Terry Ogawa for ordination at an ecclesiastical council on Sunday, July 17, 4 p.m., at Community Church of Honolulu (2345 Nuuanu Avenue, Honolulu).  To ensure quorum, churches are asked to indicate whether they will attend or not by emailing rkamanu@hcucc.org or calling 808-791-5633.  Click HERE to download her ordination paper.
 

Photo Exhibit Tells Stories of Former Homeless

“Lived Experiences: Out of Homelessness into Housing” is a photo exhibit showcasing former homeless individuals and the impact of Honolulu’s Housing First program.  The exhibit, sponsored by Institute for Human Services, can be viewed weekdays from July 6 to July 19 in the Honolulu Hale Atrium (530 South King Street, Honolulu).  For more information call 808-447-2845 or email info@ihs-hawaii.org.

UCC Transition House will hold its 25th anniversary fundraiser on Thursday, November 10, 5:30-8:30 p.m., in the Parish Hall at Central Union Church (1660 Beretania Street, Honolulu).
 

Central Union Organizes 2017 Holy Land Pilgrimage

C. Dennis Alger begins as interim pastor at Waiola Church in Lahaina, Maui, this Sunday, July 10.  Dennis is a member of Gresham UCC in Oregon and holds standing in the Central Pacific Conference.
