UCC Helps Fijians Recover after Cyclone

The strongest cyclone to hit Fiji on February 20 killed more than forty people and damaged 32,000 homes on several islands.  Read how the UCC through its Disaster Ministries stepped up to provide aid and fill critical gaps. 

HIV Ministry Conducts Survey

UCC HIV & AIDS Network (UCAN) wants to hear how churches are engaging in HIV-related ministries, including World AIDS Day observances, support groups for people living with HIV, or other activities and programs.  Take the survey (only one response from each church).

UCC Polity Offered in New England

The New England Summer Institute will offer a two-week UCC History, Theology, and Polity course from June 6 to 17 at Camp Calumet in Freedom, New Hampshire.  More UCC polity courses, as well as other educational offerings, can be found on the Learning Opportunities Page of the Hawai'i Conference website. 


O'ahu Association Convenes Ecclesiastical Council

Webinar Equips for Religious Literacy

Religious & Cultural Literacy and Competency in Disasters, a webinar taking place tomorrow, March 31, at 7 a.m. (Hawai'i time), will equip responders for times of disaster.

Nu'uanu Congregational Church (2651 Pali Highway, Honolulu) will hold an Earth Day Fair on Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Pastoral Transitions

  • Tom Fujita has ended his interim ministry at Lihue Christian Church.  David Kieffer begins as new Interim Minister on April 1.  David was previously pastor at Lili'uokalani Protestant Church.
  • Choo Lak Yeow will finish his term as Interim Minister of Church of the Holy Cross this Sunday, April 3.
  • Eric Anderson, who has been called as Pastor of Church of the Holy Cross, will begin his ministry at the church on April 5.  Eric was formerly Associate Conference Minister for Proclamation, Identity, and Communication in the Connecticut Conference.

Young Adults Chosen for Leadership Forum

Congratulations to Kristen Young, member of UCC-Judd Street, and Makaiwa (Tong) Kanui, member of Ola’a First Hawaiian Church, who are among 75 young adults nationwide chosen to participate in the Christian Leadership Forum in Atlanta, Georgia.
