Churches Can Offer Supportive Ministry for Veterans

All are invited to “Moral Injury,” a day-long workshop on ministry with and support of veterans returning home from combat.  The workshop will be led by Stephen Boyd, retired military chaplain and currently UCC Minister for Chaplains and Specialized Ministries, and will take place at Windward United Church of Christ (38 Kaneohe Bay Drive, Kailua) on Saturday, September 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  To register, email vmaunakea@hcucc.org or call 808-537-9516.  There will be a $20 fee, payable at the workshop, for lunch and materials.
 

Musicians Are Needed for Kaua'i Hospice Program

PSR President Leads Clergy Studies

David Vasquez-Levy, President of Pacific School of Religion, will lead a study of migration stories in the Bible as a way of understanding migration movements today and how they affect churches.  This continuing education for clergy will be offered twice: To prepare, participants are asked to read Santa Biblia, by Justo Gonzalez.  A limited number of copies are available for purchase at the Hawai'i Conference Office or at Wailuku Union Church, in advance or at the door, for $15. 
 

Church Administrators Invited to Meet and Share

Tri-Isle Association Convenes 'Aha Makua on September 5

The 'Aha Makua of the 'Aha O Na Mokupuni O Maui, Moloka'i A Me Lana'i (Tri-Isle Association) will take place on Saturday, September 5, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Kamehameha Schools Maui (275 Aapueo Parkway).  Included in the agenda will be boundary training for lay persons presented by Stephen Boyd, UCC Minister for Chaplains and Specialized Ministries.

Pastoral Transitions

  • Christopher Eng retired as Pastor of Waiokeola Congregational Church.  His last Sunday was July 26.  He served the church for ten years.
  • Jack Belsom retired as Pastor of Iao United Church of Christ after 23 years of service at the church.  His last Sunday was July 26.
  • Edward “Ted” Robinson will serve as Interim Minister of Waiokeola Church beginning August 2.
