UCC Supports International AIDS Conference

In conjunction with the International AIDS Conference being held this week in Washington D.C., the United Church of Christ has added several articles and resources to its website. Save the Date: Fall Youth Camp

The Hawai'i Conference Fall Youth Camp will be held from Sunday, September 30, to Wednesday, October 3, at Camp Homelani on the North Shore of O'ahu.  Click HERE for a flyer soon to be mailed out to churches.


Upcoming Church Lu'au

UCC–Judd Street (467 N. Judd Street, Honolulu) will hold its 56th Annual Lu'au on Saturday, August 18. Proceeds from this pick-up only Lu'au benefit Good News Jail & Prison Ministry and Lanakila Meals on Wheels. Learn to Care for Service Members—Correction

The National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the office of Senator Daniel Akaka are sponsoring a free one-day workshop for clergy of Hawai'i’s interfaith religious community on the challenges faced by service members and veterans experiencing post-combat deployment difficulties. The workshop will be held on Thursday, August 9, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i in Kaneohe. Call Janet at 566-1546 to register. Lunch is available for $16 or bring your own.

Kaua'i Church Hosts Songwriting, Ukulele Workshops

Koloa Union Church (3289 Poipu Road, Koloa, Kaua'i) will host summer worship arts workshops on August 10 and 11. Led by Ken Makuakane, Hawai'i Conference Program Associate, the workshops will include songwriting on Friday, 6:30-9 p.m., and ukulele building on Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to noon. Volleyball Standout

Jacqueline Ribeiro, granddaughter of Ted (Pastor Emeritus of Central Union Church and current supply minister at Waiokeola Church) and Barbara Robinson, and daughter of Fabio and Sarah (Robinson) Ribeiro of Austin, Texas, has received national attention for her beach volleyball skills.  Click HERE to read the Mid-Week article.

Pastoral Transition

Jeff Glass, Church of the Brethren minister and deacon at Mokuaikaua Church, is currently Interim Minister of the Topside Moloka'i churches: Ho'olehua, Waialua, Kalaiakamanu Hou, and Kalua'aha Churches.  He began July 1 and will end on August 5.
