Hawai'i Delegates Return from General Synod

UCC Supports African-American Churches Burned

The United Church of Christ will send financial assistance to help African-American churches burned following the shooting deaths at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.  You can join this effort by donating to the UCC’s Disaster Ministries Emergency USA fund.   
 

Justice News Moves to Social Media

News and events related to peace and justice will no longer appear in monthly newsletters.  Instead, they will be posted immediately on Twitter (@HCUCC) and Facebook (HCUCC Hawaii) and through special email blasts (beginning in July).  Churches will be able to download posts and links for inclusion in church bulletins and newsletters.
 

Pacific Christianity Course Changes Meeting Time

History of Christianity in the Pacific Region, a two-week intensive course offered by Pacific School of Religion (PSR), will be held Monday to Friday, July 27 to August 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. each day, at First Chinese Church of Christ in Honolulu.  (This is a change in time from earlier announcements.)  Teaching the course are Randi Walker, Church History Professor at PSR, and Tafa Muasau, former President of Kanana Fou Theological Seminary in American Samoa.  To register, click HERE.  For other continuing education opportunities, visit the Learning Opportunities page of the Hawai'i Conference website.

Wahiawa Church Golf Tournament Raises Funds For Education

Wahiawa United Church of Christ's 3rd Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament will raise funds for outreach, including the Campbell High School Career and Technical Education Program.  The tournament will be held on Friday, July 24, at Waikele Country Club.  Entry deadline is July 10.

 
Pearl City Church Uses Arts in Youth Outreach

Pearl City Community Church (933 Lehua Avenue, Pearl City, O'ahu) will host a concert and reception this Saturday, July 11, to launch its outreach to at-risk children and youth through the performing arts.  For more information, call 808-455-4148.
 

Transition House Announces Fundraiser Date

UCC Transition House will hold its annual fundraiser on Thursday, November 12, 5:30-8:30 p.m., at Makiki Christian Church (829 Pensacola Street, Honolulu).

Kamahemeha Schools Selects Chaplain

Brian Boshard has been appointed the new chaplain at Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i.  He will begin his ministry there on July 14.
