'Aha Pae'aina Packets Mailed to Churches

Mission 4/1 Earth Begins

Launched on Easter Monday, April 1, and continuing through the 50 days of Eastertide, Mission 4/1 Earth links four significant events—Easter (March 31), Earth Day (April 22), Arbor Day (April 26) and Pentecost (May 19)—for a sustained, aggressive and collective mission opportunity for the entire United Church of Christ.  To learn more, click HERE.

Local Churches Observe Earth Month

Two churches are holding events as part of UCC Mission 4/1 Earth and Earth Day:

Environmental Presentations at Crossroads
Church of the Crossroads (1212 University Avenue) hosts two presentations in April on energy conservation and climate change. The first, tomorrow, April 4, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will consider what churches can do. Workshop Focuses on Elders at Home

Project Dana, an interfaith volunteer caregiver program sponsored by Moiliili Hongwanji Mission, is holding a workshop on changing perceptions of elders at home and in the community. This two-day workshop will be held on Thursday, May 2, and Thursday, May 9, at Kailua United Methodist Church (1110 Kailua Road, O'ahu) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For additional information, click HERE.

Start Planned Giving in Your Church

The Stewardship Missional Team is presenting a workshop on planned giving on Thursday, May 21, 4-7 p.m., at the Hawai'i Conference Office.  The workshop will help churches start a planned giving ministry or program.  Leading the workshop will be Jan Stricklin, Associate Vice President of University Advancement for Pacific University in Oregon.  Cost is $25, which includes light pupu.  RSVP before May 7 to Diane Weible at dweible@hcucc.org or 808-791-5633.
