Residency Helps Develop Skills for Multicultural Ministry

Seminarians or seminary graduates are invited to apply for the Multicultural Residency Program at Parkview Presbyterian Church in Sacramento, California.  This full-time program provides opportunities to learn and practice the skills and responsibilities needed to serve in a multicultural setting.  Housing and stipend are provided.  Deadline to apply is February 17, 2016.

Kamehameha Schools Publishes On-line Devotions
Hawaiian-focused devotions and video hymns for Advent are available on Kamehameha Schools' website every Monday.  Week One is now available.

Kawaiaha'o Activities Usher in Tree Lighting
Kawaiaha'o Church (957 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu) invites everyone to these activities taking place prior to the City Holiday Lights Parade on December 5:
  • 4 p.m. Annual Food Fest, Praise & Worship Celebration, Keiki Fair, Live Nativity
  • 5 p.m. Kawaiaha'o Church Choir Annual Holiday Lights Yuletide Concert in the sanctuary
  • 6 p.m. City Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade
Central Union Church Hosts Concert
The Central Union Oratorio Choir and Chamber Ensemble will perform the 68th annual presentation of Handel's Messiah on Sunday, December 6, 7 p.m., at Central Union Church (1660 South Beretania Street, Honolulu).  Admission and parking are free.  Call 941-0957 for more information. 
 
Waiokeola Moves Service for Marathon
Due to the Honolulu Marathon passing directly in front of the church on December 13, Waiokeola Congregational Church (4705 Kilauea Avenue, Honolulu) will not hold Sunday services and will instead gather for a Family Advent Celebration on Saturday, December 12, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Scholar Discusses Christianity in Hawai'i

“Early Hawaiian Christianity” is the topic of the next class in the Equipping Tomorrow’s Church Leaders program sponsored by the Tri-Isle Association.  Ron Williams of the Hawaiian Studies Center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa will be the presenter on Saturday, January 23, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Waiola Church (535 Waine'e Street, Lahaina).  Register by sending a $20 check payable to Tri-Isle Association, c/o Anne Wong Troy, 2371 W. Churches and ministers of the 'Aha O Na Mokupuni 'O Maui, Moloka'i a me Lana'i (Tri-Isle Association) will gather at their 'Aha Makua on Saturday, January 30, 10:30 a.m., at Maui Evangelical Church (256 Hina Avenue, Kahului).
 

Gay Men's Chorus Presents Holiday Concert

"A Holiday Carol" is the theme of the holiday concert presented by the Gay Men's Chorus of Honolulu on Sunday, December 13, 5:30 p.m., at Hawai'i Theatre (1130 Bethel Street, Honolulu).  Buy tickets at the box office or online.
