I hope you're enjoying the few days of summer that we're having. We have a number of announcements to make, so we thought we'd make them by email.

We're hosting a workshop with IBM later this month, we're putting out our first ever call for speakers for Defuse, and finally, we're really excited to finally be able to announce our first Experience Tour where we'll be taking a guided design tour of the Guinness Storehouse.

Design Thinking in Action

IBM, one of the world’s most enduring companies, is in the midst of a design transformation, and has recently released its design thinking framework to the world. Anchored by the infinite loop of Observe, Reflect, and Make, IBM Design Thinking is built for the speed and scale of the modern enterprise. In this workshop you will be guided by the IBM Design team in an active experience with a focus on these key principles and practices, and you’ll emerge with an understanding of how the IBM approach can help you build awesome user experiences and grow great companies.

Defuse 2016
Call for speakers

Wednesday, 9th November

We’re looking for speakers from the world of User Experience Design to give a talk about topics that cover the world of interaction, design, innovation and research. The format of the event is 12 speakers x 20 slides x 15 seconds. It's a rapid, challenging but fun format to get across some key points of insight you've found through your work. The theme this year echoes that of Interaction 17: “Make it here. Make it anywhere."

Experience Tour -
Guinness Storehouse

July 7th, 6:30-7:30   Price €TBC

Join us on a tour of the story behind the story of the Guinness Storehouse. The IxDA will be hosting our first ever Experience Tour where we will be taking members on a guided design tour of the Guinness Storehouse.

The Storehouse is a branding project of enormous proportions, it is the most successful visitor attraction in Ireland, receiving 1.5 million visitors last year. On our tour, we will find out about the briefs that informed the original design of the Storehouse and each exhibit that followed. We will see how the mission to embody a brand in a building and an experience is realised and we will hear about the operational design challenges that go into running such a behemoth experience.
