Commander's Emphasis Items

• Six SDWG priorities for 2023 from SD Wing Commander Co. Michael Marek.
• Encampment: The next round of cadet cadre and senior staff applications for the 2023 Joint Dakota Encampment has been posted. (Details here)
• Feeding South Dakota: Kudos to SDWG members who continue to support the important work of Feeding South Dakota.
• Awards Deadline January 15: "Of the Year" awards and other awards proposed for presentation at Wing Conference. See CAPR 39-3 for details. Submit via eServices, except send Squadron of the Year nominations direct to SDWG/CC.  
• Instructor Profile Flights - South Dakota Wing was one of 20 wings in the top tier of completion of proficiency flights with instructor pilots, directed by the CAP National Commander.  SDWG had the highest completion rate in NCR, with 90.5% of pilots completing the training. Pilots were funded for selected proficiency flight profiles with a CAP instructor pilot before December 31.
• Legislative Day January 25: Primary goal is citizenship experience for cadets. Selected leadership staff will meet with state agencies. Wing will fund one West River and one East River van. Squadron CCs have received information from Lt. Tom Anez, SDWG Government Relations Advisor.

• Safety Down Day: Don't forget to hold your Safety Down Day this month and report the attendance in eServices. 
• SDWG's MOU with the State of South has been renewed. Members with SDWG login credentials can find the updated MOU in the Operations section of the SDWG SharePoint intranet.
• Social Media: NHQ says at this time we are not to create new official social media presences on Mastodon, TikTok, or Discord. This does not affect your personal use of social media outside your membership in CAP. 
• News Story: KOTA-TV reports on CAP's support for Feeding South Dakota.
