So, doc, what is vaginal rejuvenation????
This is a topic that is relevant and real. The reason it is controversial is that it is not a medical term. If you look at the term ‘to rejuvenate’ it just means to make something new. This can have such a broad meaning to women that we need to consider the term as just that, a broad term and not a medical diagnosis. It is the job of your provider to help you understand what it is you need and how we can get you there. There are many medical, valid conditions that would lead a woman to ask to be rejuvenated. There are also some aesthetic conditions where women might ask to be rejuvenated as well but I believe they all have validity if it bothers YOU.
Some medical conditions might be vaginal prolapse, urinary leaking, constipation, vaginal flatulence, lack of sexual sensation, lichen sclerosus, menopausal vagina, dyspareunia, skin tags, or sexual trauma.
Some aesthetic conditions which might lead a woman to ask to be rejuvenated or changed in some manner might be excess labial tissue, childbirth trauma leading to distortion, a loose ‘doorway’, or simply I do not feel comfortable with how I look.
Our recommendation is that if something bothers you, talk to us about it. As your specialist, we will find you a safe path to a solution. Sometimes with insurance, sometimes not. We will help you figure it out.
