five ideas and one coffee

Welcome to five ideas and one coffee. Each week, a combination of what's going on in the ongoing convergence of digital and social media, and how that impacts the way we communicate. Plus, something I learned about coffee this week. Let's get started!

Five Ideas.

Idea One:
Extending out your circle of control

Idea Two:
Rejecting the ideas of the self-improvement craze

Idea Three:
How air conditioning invented the modern world (and other important inventions).

Idea Four:
A profile of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella shows how far the giant company has come in transforming its culture. Some helpful concepts on display in terms of what's involved in changing company culture while paying homage to what has come before.

Idea Five (the how-to's):
How to:

One Coffee.

This year, I'd like to hear from you about what you've learned over coffee. I had a couple of good conversations over coffee this week, where I was listening to the other person, and they - I felt - were listening to me. It was pretty great. I also checked out a coffee van: the quality of the fit-out and the little tweaks to make setup work were amazing to look at. But sadly no links to relate.

What have you learned this week?

... that's it!

I'm going to take a couple of weeks' break from the regular newsletter: one because I'm working through the long weekend, and the other for some family time. So this newsletter will be back in a few weeks.

As always, hit reply if you've learned something, or if you'd like to suggest an idea or a coffee.
