Come Sunday for Bluegrass and Biscuits

Last Sunday’s coffee hour with live bluegrass music by Hind Sight, Biscuitville biscuits and Green Bean coffee was so popular we’re doing it again this Sunday! The coffee hour is 10-11 a.m. on the Patterson Terrace. Worship at the casual 9 a.m. service on the Terrace (unmasked) or in the Haywood Duke Room (masks required) and stay for coffee and treats. Or, come at 10 a.m. for the festive coffee hour and go to the traditional 11 a.m. service (in the Sanctuary, masks optional).
Reopening coffee hours are free through July 4, so plan to be there and invite your friends to come back and reconnect. Several parishioners have volunteered to underwrite music at the coffee hours for the next several weeks. Thank you to them. Hope Abounds at Holy Trinity breakfasts!

Holy Trinity Pilgrimage To The Holy Land

Join Fr. Umphlett and his guide friend of eleven years, Canon Iyad Qumri, on a journey in the steps of Jesus. This pilgrimage will be a mixture of bus rides and short walks. You’ll need to be able to walk at least two miles without difficulty on uneven terrain. We are limiting the size of the group to twenty people. After this pilgrimage and time spent with a people who have been Christian since the day of Pentecost, you will never read the Bible the same way again, guaranteed!

Trip dates are October 8-19, 2021. The trip cost does not include airfare. We will offer the opportunity for group travel or independent travel. The total land cost will be what is listed, plus $200 per person for tips, incidentals, and a donation to the Diocese of Jerusalem institution that we will visit.

Please email David with your interest. Deposits are due July 8. This is obviously a short turn-around time, but we’ve been holding this pilgrimage on our books since last fall, hoping the pandemic would abate enough to do so. It has, so we’re moving forward.
Note: The state of Israel requires all visitors to be vaccinated.

Infant & Toddler Nursery Returns

Sunday, June 27

We are excited to announce that the Infant and Toddler Nursery for children Birth - Three years will return on Sunday, June 27 in Room 105. A Nursery Task Force has met and formed the following procedures for the nursery. Pre-registration is required. We will post a link to register in the June 20 family newsletter and the June 23 ePistle. There will be two time slots: 8:45 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., so the nursery can accommodate twelve children each Sunday. In the fall, the nursery will need substantial parental support. Due to annual giving shortfalls, the 2021 childcare budget was cut in half, meaning the church can provide half the number of paid caregivers as in the past, and the shortfall will need to be made up with volunteers. This fall we will need families who use the nursery to sign up for one 2-hour childcare shift per month in the nursery.

TWIGS Luncheon

On June 30 we are having a summer Twigs luncheon on the Patterson Terrace from 12 to 1:30 p.m.  We will be providing a light box lunch from Panera, a salad and half-sandwich and drinks. There will be no charge (a real free lunch!), the only condition is that we get a reservation from the member who is coming, we also encourage anyone meeting the qualification (over 60) for Twigs to attend and become a member. The reservation can be confirmed by calling the church at 336.272.6149 and leaving a name with either Jackie Burns or the person on the reception desk, no later than June 28.

Hike this Saturday!

Hello to all Holy Trinity Pilgrims and others interested in hiking. Please join me for a hike around Lake Brandt this Saturday, June 19. It is going to be a scorcher, so we will start at 8 a.m. to beat the heat. The hike is approximately 7 miles long, but is flat for most of the way. We will start at the Burmill parking lot (circular driveway at the end). There is a bathroom break about half way through and is also ideal for a snack break. Please RSVP to me (Caroline Moseley) so I know you are coming. You can email me at or post on the HT pilgrim page. Hope to see all of you there!

Book Launch and Reading: The House of Gratitude

Poems Offered During Covid Times, By Linda Beatrice Brown

Sunday, July 18, 2-4 p.m., on Zoom
Dear friends, I am happy to invite you to a poetry reading to launch my newest book, The House of Gratitude. I am delighted to share some of these 52 poems, written during the Covid crisis to give voice to the mixture of emotion we were all feeling, and to offer some measure of peace and sharing. The program will include some conversation about the poems as well. The event is free but you do need to register. I do hope you will join me for this celebration. Peace and all good, Linda
