Annual Giving Campaign Update

Wednesday Night Supper Format Change

Friends, we are excited to roll out a new format for Holy Trinity’s Wednesday Night Supper. We have had incredible turnout at our larger special events these last 6 months, which has inspired us to change Wednesday Night Supper from a weekly supper format to a monthly gathering dinner event. The new format will have a celebration theme, a service project or activity, dinner, and plenty of fellowship. Stay tuned for details for our Wednesday Night Birthday Party for Jesus on December 15 and our Wednesday Night Epiphany Celebration on January 12. These monthly fellowship dinners will be welcoming for all and bustling with service and fun. We can’t wait!

Tonight's Events

Stillpoint: On Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. we offer Stillpoint: A Contemplative Eucharist in All Saints Chapel. This is an opportunity to find that “still point” in the middle of one’s busy week. The format includes a 30 minute Eucharist with contemplative music provided by Riley Walker and Dr. Ben Brafford in the Taizé tradition, followed by an opportunity for a 15–20 minute period of silent contemplative prayer.

Beloved Community Commission Meeting: The Beloved Community Commission will meet today at 4 p.m. before Stillpoint and all are welcome! The purpose of this meeting will be to determine next steps. Where do we go from here? We will meet in Roe Library. Join us! Yours in Christ, Linda Brown and Carol Lucas

Music Notes: During the Offertory, the choir will sing a text from the 12th century attributed to Bernard of Clairvaux. Among the many sacred texts attributed to him include hymn 649 in our hymnal, which in some sources includes 52 verses. The anthem, O Jesus, King Most Wonderful, was translated in the mid nineteenth century by Edward Cassell, a British deacon who eventually served as a priest in Rome. The musical setting is by Gerald Near, an accomplished organist and composer who studied with the “Dean of American Church Music” Leo Sowerby. This lovely work, celebrating Christ the King, has much history coming together in one delicate but harmonically rich piece.
Holy Trinity 101:  How to Use the Book of Common Prayer for Daily Spiritual Practices. Holy Trinity 101 meets once monthly and is a great place for newcomers and members alike to connect for authentic faith conversation.
Children's Sunday School: A reminder that there is one class for ages Kindergarten – Fifth Grade, which meets in Broome Hall from 10-10:45 a.m. Older youth are encouraged to attend worship Sunday mornings and EYC Sunday evenings. No Youth Sunday school on Sunday mornings at this time. Thank you for remaining flexible as we adjust Sunday school to reflect the present needs of our community. Please contact marjorie@holy-trinity.com with any questions.

A Special Housing Christmas Gift

Holy Trinity is partnering with Community Housing Solutions (CHS) of Greensboro to provide a special Christmas gift for our neighbor Nellie Rudd. On Saturday, December 4, Holy Trinity members and friends will remove clutter, paint inside, and build a short ramp at Nellie’s home, all in preparation to move her back into her home in time to celebrate Christmas. This Advent, let your life and service shine the Light of the World to Nellie. Click here to learn more and to sign up!  (Photo from previous Housing Ministry project)

Join an Advent Covenant Group

Advent Covenant groups are now forming! Covenant Groups are small groups of 8-12 people who meet weekly during Advent for about one hour to form community and to nurture personal and communal spiritual growth. Groups meet in-person and on Zoom beginning the week following Thanksgiving. This year we are using Amy-Jill Levine’s Light of the World: A Beginner’s Guide to Advent to guide our reflections and sharing. Click here for more information and to sign up. Joining a covenant group is a wonderful way to prepare for Christmas.
