Return to Masking
As Guilford County has now passed the 7.5% positivity rate for COVID testing, diocesan rules mandating masking by all persons, regardless of vaccination status, once again take effect. All people who attend any worship service or other event at Holy Trinity are reminded to please bring your mask. Masks are also available at the doors for those who may have forgotten theirs. Masks may, of course, be removed while eating or drinking at the breakfasts, which will continue between the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the Terrace.
Please do all you can to love your neighbor as yourself, especially the most vulnerable among us like children who cannot yet be vaccinated and those with compromised immune systems. Free vaccines continue to be available at sites all over Guilford County, including many drug stores.

Hike this Saturday

Appalachian Trail (AT) preparation season has officially begun! We will have our first official practice hike this Saturday. All AT Pilgrims are required to attend. You can still join us for a hike, even if you aren't going on the AT. We welcome anyone from out church family who is interested in getting outdoors. Here are the specifics. Look forward to seeing everyone!
Where: Piedmont Trail
When: 8 a.m. this Saturday, 8/21

The results are in! Thank you to everyone who offered your voice to our music survey concerning the 9 a.m. service this Fall. The majority of respondents voted for option one:

We continue to explore other musical offerings as we have done this summer at the 9 a.m. service, but in the nave instead. Traditional hymnody, Taize, and other sources have been offered in a variety of styles by volunteer musicians, Dr. Brafford, and one paid coordinator. Music in The Episcopal Church is significantly broader than what some folks think and this arrangement allows us to explore the full breadth of that tradition.

We are committed to this arrangement through December. After the Annual Giving Campaign this Fall, we will reassess what we will be able to offer moving forward. Thank you for your flexibility as we continue to discover what the future will look like for Holy Trinity both as we learn to live within our means and as we explore what it looks like to offer a variety of worship experiences to engage as many different people as possible.

The full Sunday schedule returns on September 12. Remember that the 8 a.m. liturgy in the chapel will be quiet, with no music. The 11:15 a.m. will have our full volunteer choir, eight paid section leaders, Dr. Ben Brafford, and our assistant organist every week. The Hodie String Quartet will add to the musical offerings at 11:15 a.m. once each month. Additional musicians will be engaged for special events throughout the year.

Music, whatever the type, will continue to be central to our life of praise and worship, to the glory of God.

Pax et bonum,
