Music Notes
At the 11:15 service, that choir will offer Let Nothing Ever Grieve Thee of Johannes Brahms. This piece was a favorite of Richard Cox. He praised the final "amen" as one of the best in choral literature. From 1856, this early Brahms piece combines choral compositional techniques from the Renaissance (Palestrina) and Baroque (Bach) periods. The organ has its own melodic lines that interact with the choral lines, all imitating each other for a very full, rich sound that is very complex while giving a very peaceful impression to the listener.
