Grace and peace from God our Father
"Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever."
In Philippians 4:6-7 we are encouraged to be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving to make our requests known unto God. And, as we leave our cares, our anxiety and our fears at the foot of the Cross, the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
When we worry or fret over things in our lives, we become anxious and frustrated when we are unable to deal with things or sort things out in our own strength. But what a wonderful comfort it is to know that when we trust in God alone, our hearts and our minds will be kept in perfect peace.
As we look around about us, we see that this world is truly evil. As it was in the times of Noah, the earth is once again filled with much violence and corruption. Not an hour goes by without tragic and heinous headlines flashing across the media. Yes, it is sometimes difficult to focus on the positive when all around us things are seemingly becoming more and more chaotic.
But today, we can come before our Father through Jesus Christ our intercessor, and we can live in the wonderful grace and peace he has so mercifully afforded each one of us freely; giving His very own Son for our sins, that Jesus might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.
May we each be encouraged not to allow the things of this world and the attempts of the evil one to make us despondent or anxious. Rather, as we look to Jesus alone, the author and finisher of our faith, may we lift up our hands that hang down and may we give all praise and glory to our Father in heaven for giving us abundant life in and through His Son; knowing that our names are written in the book of life.
So may we each say in our hearts and minds today, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice” - Philippians 4:4 - and, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” - Philippians 4:13
