You are an Ambassador of Christ
2 Corinthians 5:20
"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."
When we come to know Jesus as Lord, we are made labourers together with God and ambassadors for Jesus Christ. An ambassador by definition is the highest ranking diplomat who represents a nation.
So how amazing is it that we are now each made ambassadors of the nation of God; of his heavenly Kingdom. And we are appointed by God Himself in and through Jesus Christ. We who were not even worthy to approach the throne of God are now representing the most high God because of what Jesus did for each of us!
The next time someone asks, 'what do you do for a living?' - maybe we could answer, 'I am an Ambassador'. 'Wow, for which country?', they may ask. To which we could reply, 'actually, for Heaven.'
So what type of ambassadors are we?
Are we as the 10 spies Moses sent out who brought back an evil report of the land? Are we those who are continually complaining and murmuring at the state of the world? Are we those who somehow feel we have the short end of the stick as children of God? Are we those who continually highlight everyone’s faults and all the obstacles in the way? And if we are not giving others the faith, hope, love and grace and mercy which we ourselves have been given, then who will shine the light of Christ?
Or are we as Joshua and Caleb, who, despite the circumstance, go about painting a picture for others of the wonderful hope we have? Are we allowing others to see the wonderful fruit that comes from Christ alone, our King of Kings and Lord of Lords? Are we portraying to others a land that flows with milk and honey; with everlasting love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self control?
No matter the circumstance or obstacles, may we each be encouraged to echo the words of Caleb when he said, ‘Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.’
So today, may we each be the true ambassadors God Himself has appointed us to be in through Jesus Christ. For if God is for us, who can be against us? And if Christ is in us, who can stand against Him?
